  1. Ive seen annual blue grass sold before for emgerency repairs-- It has a tendency to leave bare spots the following year. Annual ryegrass is a superior choice for its durability and drought resistance but does not germinate as readily or as hardily as annual bluegrass. Rye has a better appearance too. Some golf course such as Chambers Bay in WA use annual blue grass in their greens.
  2. You can always try overseeding with annual blue grass (fastest to germinate and won't come back next year) and watering with a sprinkler. It will perk back up in no time
  3. Well the extra daylight makes for enormous vegatables which i think makes up for it!
  4. This summer is a bit how I imagine summers are out in Idaho, Montana,Minnesota, the Dakota's....etc-- maybe just a bit cooler on the hottest days.
  5. Indeed, My sister had her tent wedding in our back yard in Pottstown! What a wonderful time!
  6. The weather feels pretty average and grey lately.
  7. seems like an early spring. The most epic early spring I remember was 2012. I was a senior in HS and I remember the trees being leafed out by St. Patty's day
  8. Coverage at the mountain is starting to get very thin. We were skiing through puddles yesterday 4" might save the last two weekends for the season. If we can get down to 23F on Saturday Night, that would be perfect.
  9. A strong, consistent, early spring wind from the east normally casues an a bummer crop for maple syrup farmers. Especially, following prolonged and consistent cold.
  10. Freezing rain that never freezes is just... rain
  11. Its a pink nightmare thats for sure... Ice storms never verify this time of year. My forecast is rain.
  12. That was a bad storm, its the only ice storm I remember really packing the heat around here. There was one when I was up in Vermont but it was nothing for them to handle.
  13. 28hrs of continuous snowmaking-- 8 million gallons and counting!!
  14. My mountain still hasn't been able to open for skiing yet...
  15. Looks like a low yielding clipper to me. I like those looks early in the season.
  16. Why do we have to go through this crap every few years. If we want to merge, our membership will get in touch with site leadership instead of having it imposed upon us by out-of-towners!
  17. Hearing some talk about this SST warming event on Rebecca's Northeast weather.... apparently its rare for them to occur this early. Last time it happened was in 2010 which led to many disruptions in the polar vortex and formation of the "alaska ridge" for that snow season....
  18. Well considering the other three members of my family were once nearly killed in a car accident by someone high on cannabis-- I have every right to be uptight. If you ask me the Philippines have the right approach.
  19. Yeah to be clear I have no issue with the glorified sparkler products. So carry on. Little kid ears can be really sensitive! I think its going to be a scorcher today!
  20. I wish people would be a bit more civically minded about their fireworks privledges. The new law that allows them to be set off in PA has caused a lot of problems in Reading and a few other places. If anything it should only be one day. Of course people could donate to the mucipal Fourth of July funds so everyone could enjoy a really spectacular professional display instead of a ho-hum hundred foot back yard display. Part of the beuaty of fireworks is the coordinated effort. That being said Im very excited for the Semi-bicentennial thats coming up in a few years!
  21. While a bit pointed, I think Albedoman makes some good points.
  22. Thats very interesting it sounds like the mines/quarries should be part of a dam control system that is forced to pump when these rainfall events occur. Blue marsh dam was put in place to chorale the Tulpie's flooding.
