Yes, we managed to make snow two nights this week. Re-opening should happen Saturday morning.

I tend to think of snow amounts and how it impacts skiing conditions. A 4-8" would be a big help in getting my hill opened. 1-2" is barely noticeable. 4-7" inches helps freshen things up. 8-12 is true powder conditions. !2"+ and it starts getting hard to go fast down most beginner slopes. 24"+ is when you can start going over cliff and expect a soft landing

indeed, my guess is that moist air is more heat conductive than dry air. In other words it has more propensity to ether!

Talk about the decline of public radio on the air!! Its kind of sad, it was a good way of knowing how impactful and widespread a winter storm was. I think I was pretty much the last hurrah for this tradition. My high school implemented robo-calls my freshmen year.

Up to 0.54" since 4:30 ish here. Anxious to see how my station does with this wind event tomorrow.

Yeah its a lot of work often in poor conditions... thats why we have to pay people to do that job at the resort. 2 gpm of water is probably about 2/3 of a cubic yard of snow per hour. If you think about how much a yd^3 of mulch covers, its a little underwhelming.

yes I'm an instructor at bear creek. Sadly I don't have a snow making machine. I've thought about building one, but the problem is getting air compressor up to the job. A good snowmaking machine uses 100's of cfm of compressed air. they are $$$.
