It's been a while since we had a deep snowcover and 30mph winds to deal with. Rural areas like where I live will not be on a priority list of being kept clear. As crews will be focused on main arteries.

From what I seen it looks like blowing and drifting will be a concern after 8am on Monday into Tuesday morning with 30 mph gusts.

24 JAN 2026 @ 6:45 AM EST: Arctic air has returned to the region and will set the stage for frozen precipitation to fall with the approaching storm.

I know this week on tv somebody was worried about the strain on the power grid with these brutal temps this coming week. But hadn't heard anything since.

Especially if it's a random tree that decides to fall at the worst possible time in a remote rural area that repair crews will have trouble getting to 

I hope the power doesn't go out with these brutal temps during and after the storm. A lot of people will be in trouble.

Idk either what they are using. It looks like my start time is around 5am, earlier it was around 2am.

ABC27 thinks snow could be done by 8:30pm Sunday night.

After the epic storm drought we've had I think it would take us getting less than 7" for me to feel slightly jibbed. I do think now we end up in the 12"-14" range much more than 16"-18" range it won't affect my enjoyment

You might be hearing that Sunday's snowstorm could be the biggest in years. Keep in mind there hasn't been a 12"+ snowstorm since 2018. Here are the recent snowstorms that produced more than 6" of snow:

Some models are showing 30mph winds on Monday after the storm...fun times ahead. If we get the forecasted amounts of snow with the cold and wind...we will indeed be talking about an old fashioned winter.
