    I'm still using my Vantage Pro that I got in 2003...I've replaced the temp- humidity sensor, the rain gage and the anemometer, once during those 16 years...I think I've only needed to replace the battery in the iss, a couple of times. Not a fan of the all in one units like the vue...Definitely go with the Vantage Pro 2 if you can.

    I've always had a manual gage to go along with the davis as clogging does happen as you mentioned. I've had the big 8" diameter nws gage for over 30 years now.

    Keep in mind that noaa hasn't predicted a below normal winter in the NE in a long time...I believe it's something like 10 to 15 years? At my station, going back 18 years it's split evenly between above and below normal winters as are the last 10 years. The last three winters have averaged above however. Lot of cold Marches lately, if you want to extend things.

    I often trust the forecasts here from some of our posters, more than I do from some of the pros in the media.

    Met fall here finished as 4th warmest in 40 years, even with a cool November.

    I miss old time hockey...I had been a hockey fanatic since 10 years old..Starting last season, I don't really watch it anymore... I still follow it but get bored trying to watch it.

    Remember that devil's playoff game back in 1988 (I think), that had the replacement referees? I was at that game, I'll never forget it.
