  1. I thought that today was supposed to be damp in this area but around noon, we had a clearing here and full sunshine until almost sunset. A grand and glorious way to end the month here.
  2. After work I was mowing the lawn and noticed that the gaps in the clouds was highlighting the altocumulus in a nice way. If I cannot have color, some texture is the sky is all I need. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Ditto...
  3. lol you made me click on the Duluth Canal cam and I got to see the Gott leaving in the blowing snow.
  4. Approaching system sunset this evening. Sunset taken with the 24-70mm at 31mm... Post sunset color taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm...
  5. Kind of silly but the Indian tribes of the area called this area of central Indiana something that loosely translates into, "Place of Big Wind". The map sort of shows that. Of course today the wind is blowing 29 gusting to 39. Windy indeed.
  6. I could see on the visual satellite this afternoon that the edge of this departing system was approaching the Illinois/Indiana border. I thought there might be a chance at some post sunset color so I went out in the country to make sure I had as clear a view to the west as I could get. I guessed right. There was a brief red flash but I was not expecting a sun pillar also. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm and cropped in the camera...
  7. How apropos. Last full day of winter and there were flakes in the air here this morning.
  8. KIND as reporting Scattered at 25,000 ft. when I took this, this evening. Taken with the 24-70mm at 41mm...
  9. 0.40" in the tippy bucket so far. This is the greatest amount of moisture in a system in quite awhile here. Was getting used to less than 0.1 or just a trace. The ground really had that wet smell to it for the first time of the season.
  10. After a day of mostly to partly cloudy, around sunset the clouds all decided to take a hike. Looking southeast close to sunset with an old microwave repeater and a new light standard. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm Not much towards sunset other than some random contrails. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm...
  11. Nice day outside. Nice day behind the viewfinder. Late afternoon cirrus and contrails. Taken with the 24-70mm at 41mm... The sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 53mm... The post sunset red flash. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Cheers!
  12. Was a tad breezy here also. Flags were standing straight out this afternoon.
  13. That is not possible. At least not in the first week of March.
  14. Was able to get to the post sunset during a work day. today. Only had time to get home grab the camera and hustle to the municipal lot which is close to the house. Still not enough time to make it all the way out to the overpass yet. The yellow/orange. Taken with the 24-70mm at 57mm... The sort of red/ really just a deeper orange. Taken with the 24-70mm at 53mm and cropped in the camera.
  15. Does not look like the Lake is going to save ALEK this time.
  16. A hail stone made up a numerous smaller stones? Yes.
  17. Another perfect Late Feb. day. Was outside all day watching the incoming system dynamics. A partial 22 degree halo around the Sun as the cirrus encroached the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... When I got out to the overpass for the sunset. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... Looking south at the different cloud types. Taken wwith the 16-35mm at 16mm... Looking southeast. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... The different colors for the different cloud types. The white of the highest cirrus. The yellow of the medium alto-cumulus. And the black of the stratus starting to roll into the area. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm...
  18. No two ways about it. It was a perfect day here. Five stars, two thumbs up, perfect climo any way you can say it. it was. 73 at KIND.
  19. Some faint late-afternoon iridescence in the cumulus. There was some nice cirrus inaction going on also that I could not see from the glare. Glad I took the image and was able to see it. Taken with the 24-70mm at 42mm...
  20. Someone, somewhere said something about Daffodils starting to poke up. I thought that as silly till I went out today and actually saw some spikes showing themselves here.
