  1. A nice 8 hour soaking here. Ended up with exactly 1.00" in my tippy bucket. That does not happen often, perfectly rounded out numbers. I could use another day just like this one, tomorrow. But that is not going to happen.
  2. The AQI got above 150 here today. Not like the madness of the 300's in the Northeast but still in the unhealthy range here. Looked horrible, smelled horrible and made me breath funny outside today.
  3. Same here also. Someone bump the record player. It is stuck and keeps playing the same three notes over and over again.
  4. Agree. Messes up my cloud and sunset images. And is unhealthy for my lungs.
  5. Thanks. I will investigate this further.
  6. hardypalmguy, can you attempt to identify this palm for me? This is a single voluntary palm on my property. I did not plant the thing. It showed up late last year. I assume from a bird or squirrel or some other mode of transport. It looked pretty sad during the cool damp early spring but now that it has gotten quite dry it is looking quite healthy while everything else wilts.
  7. An excerpt from KIND's HWO WWA Summary by Location for 40.05N 86.47W with INZ037/INC011/INZ037 emphasis Air Quality Alert (weather.gov)
  8. Today the high was one degree cooler at KIND with 85 compared to yesterdays 86. But the dews were in the upper 40's yesterday while in the low 60's today. Made it feel a lot warmer outside in the Sun.
  9. 5-12 was a sparse evening but had all the colors post sunset. The yellows. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... The oranges. Taken with the 24-70mm at 34mm... And the reds. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm...
  10. 5-8 was a day of generic clouds. Looking north pre-sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 39mm... Closer to sunset and some low topped build-up looking southwest. Taken with the 100mm (cropped in camera)...
  11. 5-5 had plenty of clouds to work with. Pre-sunset has some see-thru stratus. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Post sunset had a jumble of clouds. Taken with the 100mm...
  12. The. Corn. Needs. Rain. This shows that the early corn got rain on it and looks at least somewhat decent. The late corn though has not got anything and needs it bad. Beans in the same pot also.
  13. 84 at KIND just so you know what you are missing. LOL at a 40 degree difference.
  14. From 4-26. Taken with the 24-70mm at 44mm...
  15. From 4-24. I am only way, way behind. Taken with the 100mm...
  16. Even though I was in an area with less smoke today, it was still visible, especially post sunset. Here is the Moon with the smoke. And while there are some clouds here, 90% of what you see is smoke...
  17. Crepuscular rays. In this instance it is from clouds that are under the horizon well off in the distance.
  18. The smoke made it to 40N. today. Chalky white skies all day. At sunset you could see the smoke better looking at the horizon and through the most atmosphere hence more smoke. The nearest clouds in this direction was the Iowa/Nebraska border and you can not see them from this location. This is all smoke.
  19. Hot, dry and windy conditions before significant green out that far north and all you need is a spark or two and it is Katty-bar-the door.
  20. Your air quality via AirNow.gov. Forecast Discussion: Mon, May 15, 2023: An Air Quality Alert for fine particles due to wildfire smoke is in effect beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, at 4 A.M. through tomorrow at 4 p.m. for northern Minnesota. Fire activity has ramped up in the past week across western Canada. A band of smoke has been moving east across Canada for the past several days. A cold front will dive south tonight and pull this smoke towards Minnesota. Sinking air behind the front is expected to bring this smoke to the surface, creating poor air quality conditions.
  21. The sound of boats on the lakes probably drown out the sound of the green starting to grow.
  22. Wow! Shingles on the roof and asphalt on the driveway. Who Knew?!?!
  23. Up and down night here also. At some point there was some larger-than-quarter hail. Sounded like hell on the aluminum back porch cover. Tore the sheet-rock out of the trees here. 1.72 in the tippy bucket so far.
  24. Looks like the last image is from 0055Z. Nothing since then. Must be trying to rectify it.
