  1. 6-11 Best to beat the smoke by waiting till the rain just stopped. Here it timed out just right with the sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 57mm...
  2. 6-9 Sometimes if the smoke was not too over-the-top, there could be a decent looking sunset...
  3. Are you sure you want what I got? Somehow I found a notch in the line and only registered 0.05" in my tippy bucket. Just to my south got over an inch again. But I was OK with the little amount. After 0.75" in ten minutes on Sunday, only getting enough to dampen the soil is all I needed today.
  4. Looks like the 6:00p.m. deluge is getting to be a thing here. Day number 2 is about to start. The sky to the north is that horrible bruise color and there is rumbling again.
  5. I see your at 151 AQI. Nothing like a little unhealthy air. All the smoke does make a nice natural softbox for photos though.
  6. Flower in the sky....................................Boom!
  7. Bo's snowpack is saving him so far. How long will that last?
  8. Saw my first cicada buzzing on the sidewalk while doing yardwork today. Also heard a bunch in the trees of the southside park as I was riding my bike out to image the sunset.
  9. Well that was fun, Last Thursday got home from work to tree limbs down everywhere. Obviously had lost power during the fun but it was back up by the time I got home. But the phone line was DOA. Figured it was a line problem and waited for three days and finally called about it. THey said my modem/router/gateway was fried. Finally got the replacement today. So for almost a week I had to do weather the old fashion way. Stick your head out the door. If you sweat, it is hot. If the hair flies in your face, it is windy. If your head gets wet, it is raining. Good to be able to see the radar again and watch the rain evaporate just to my west again.
  10. I like how the vis numbers go red when 3 miles or less. And the numbers have been red almost all day since sun-up.
  11. 217 way down here in Indiana at 7 p.m.. Should be getting better as the atmosphere starts to cool off but instead it is getting worse.
  12. Current AQI of 319 in Waukesha, WI. Up into the hazardous range.
  13. Indianapolis AQI - 156 currently Chicago AQI 185 It is unhealthy in the lower lakes right now.
  14. When I woke up to rain drops hitting the roof at 8 a.m., I thought maybe things would be OK. Well it was nice but not OK. Only had 0.13" with the morning showers. I thought maybe I could gain some more with the afternoon stuff. But, even though I was woken up from a nap to the tornado sirens going off for sup just miles north of my house, I ended up getting nada, zero, zilch. So, 0.13" is the day total for imby and that is not going to help the drought conditions at all. And now resting any hopes on the backside.upper low instability showers is probably a fool's run also. Once you start droughting it is hard to stop droughting.
  15. Your palms and grass do not seem to mind it.
  16. After all that snow did you ever imagine you would be hoping for more precipitation so soon?
  17. And now for something completely different, a sunrise from 6-3. That was a work day so this was taken from the alley behind the garage so the security light, trees and neighbor's house are all part of the equation. Taken with the 24-70mm at 57mm...
  18. That is the definition of parched.
  19. THat is because it is not summer yet. Be patient grasshopper. Only five more days to go. June 21st at 10:57a.m..
  20. 6-2 was a sparse but not visually unappealing sunset. Sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 41mm... Post sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 61mm... Cheers!
  21. 5-31 was another vertical evening. When I got out to the overpass looking west. Taken with the 24-70mm at 30mm... Beginning of post sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 63mm (cropped in camera)... Ending of post sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm (cropped in camera)...
  22. 5-30 was a vertical evening. Looking west as I got out to the overpass and all the alto cumulus. Taken with the 24-70mm at 24mm... Looking east at a patch of virga with an arc segment of a rainbow embedded in it close to sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Looking back west for the sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 50mm...
  23. And now, the sunset from 5-29. Pre-sunset and the yellow. Taken with the 100mm (cropped in camera)... Post sunset and the orange with a hint of a sun pillar. Taken with the 100mm (cropped in camera... And the red with the hint of a sun pillar again. Taken with the 100mm (cropped in camera)... Cheers!
