This is the only snowstorm in the area during the first week of January with a 60° high temperature. We saw the first 12”+ daily snow at ACY following a 60° day. This has been a common theme for us in recent years with record warmth and heavy snows close together.
I feel about 80 years old saying this, but I often look for that warm up, followed by a quick pattern-changing event on the frontal passage... followed by another storm in like 3 days.. to really begin winter.

I never measured, but we were definitely 6" + on the UWS this morning, but that's not egregiously low.

Some pics from lunchtime/Madison Sq Park. I have a new office down this way.

What a glorious morning. Did not measure but looks solidly in the 6-7" range on the UWS.

That is the greatest thing I've seen on the Internet since someone recreated the 10th inning of Game 6 of the 1986 WS in Nintendo RBI Baseball.

Motivated to get off of Facebook and Instagram, I recently got organized with thousands of pictures - snow and not-snow! - and put them back together in a new photo site. Here's my snow archive:

Unhook the one with water and get them back on and that should tell the tale. I’m not sure how you can get CO with no heating outside of a hot water heater but someone ITT will know for sure.
Yeah, I plugged the others back in and they are quiet.

Fun night here. Power out as @Snowaddict28noted. An hour after we fell asleep all of the smoke alarms (which are wired) in this rental went off. After trying to turn them off one by one (by popping batter open) I found one with water in it. Assuming that caused it to malfunction, setting the other ones off??? I don’t think there is any logical source for CO.

We are right on the beach in Milford… creaky place with wind rushing in the windows and under the doors. Gonna be a fun night.

I’ve been around… I’m just in the NYC forum. I lurk over here when I want to see coherent discussion.

Just got in from a tropical Jebwalk on the UWS. Steady tropical downpour and you can see on radar it’s building a band over the city.

Any reports from Milford, CT area? Seem to be missing the rain (and presumably wind) so far, but wondering if sound flooding is emerging as expected.

Can we agree the worst local impact from this storm might be Cuomo grandstanding for one last briefing?

MLK 2022 Storm Potential

I was in CHO and I recall we got another full 12" - which was shocking. But the forecasts had indeed caused panic and sent people out to the stores.
