Thank god they did cancel the concert. Gave people a head start on the worst of the subway flooding (multiple lines are shut down now)

Central Park set an all time hourly rainfall record this evening. It’s nuts here.

Central Park received 1.94” of rain in the last hour. That set a new hourly record. The old record was 1.76”, which was set on September 8, 2004.
Incredible

Flash flood warning now in Manhattan. FWIW, rain here is overproducing.

I may be in the worst possible position right now for this. No power for multiple days or rain that’s floods my house. What wonderful options to chose from . Ugh.
We rented a beach house on the water there in Milford to start next Friday.

LIS storm urge impact with multiple tide cycles compounding will be an issue, especially western sound.
Aside from those who make a living on the water, most residents are totally unaware of this incoming for the weekend.
It does not take much. It only drains through the race or under the Brooklyn Bridge.
Our summer plans having changed like four times, we just the other day booked a house on the water in Milford starting next Friday. Hoping the flooding does not materialize.

GEFS are like 50/50 chances NW vs. OTS.
GEFS are terrible for NYC Metro... Want to TRACK NW AND SUPPORT THE OPERATIONALI do not think it is a weak TC...you have to define "terrible" on this board. Has dual meanings.

Flipped to rain, maybe some sleet on UWS.

Edit: Sidewalks and cross streets are getting slushy covering.
-
Heavy snow persists on UWS. Covering cars now from what I can see.
-
still puking snow, but not sticking to anything.
-
Definitely has the feel of one of those March snow squalls. Heavy, wet... not sticking to anything.

What an absolutely sublime evening out there. Just did a walk in Central Park to look for the Snowy Owl as dusk set in. He didn't show (yet) but we were treated with magical snow globe snow that kept picking up in intensity. I had my big camera and got a few shots, but here are some from the phone.

It's a mix here - fat, slow flakes and sleet (can hear it hitting air conditioner).
-
Mod/heavy snow, but pingers are mixing in on the UWS of Manhattan.

Yes. I don't get it. Every storm I see the big ole brine truck go up and down and around street 4-5 times. Does nothing.
Even worse in my area is they've also pre-salted roads last few light events (didn't really do much to help) and now probably don't have enough salt left to treat roads if we get freezes next couple weeks or a storm or two in March.
The small one lane service road along Riverside Drive was bare/blacktop... the main four lane road was snow-covered.

Another perfect morning in NYC. Did a short dog walk at 9:00 and Riverside Drive (the main road) was already snow-covered.

1989...
A total of 33 cities in the Ern U.S. reported new record low temperatures for the date,
and an Atlantic coast storm spread heavy snow from GA to Srn New England.
Snowfall totals in NJ ranged up to 24" in Cape May Co, with 19" reported at ACY.
Totals in NC ranged up to 18" in Gates County, and winds along the coast of NC
gusted to 70 mph at Duck Pier. Strong winds gusting to 52 mph created blizzard
conditions at Chatham, MA. (NWS) (SD)Not to take us down memory lane, but that remains my #1 weather event because we had the fortune to drive through the height of that going from MA to FL for Christmas. We were in a 4WD GMC Suburban... picked up some people stranded on the side of the road on I-95 in NC.

You're the same people that complain when we don’t have snow.
We haven’t had any appreciable snow on the ground in two years. It has been on the ground for a whopping 2 weeks and you want it gone. In a week or two it will be gone for 10 months (sans a wet March snow) and you can enjoy the record dewpoints that the cement jungle provides us these days.
For the record, there is never anywhere to park in Brooklyn...that is why people who want a car lifestyle eventually leave Brooklyn
We nearly lost our minds during the winter of 10-11 in Boston when we had 72" in six weeks and we had a 2 year-old. Sprung for a garage spot in advance of the next winter (11-12)
Carless in Manhattan near a park is the way to enjoy it now. Let it keep piling up.

The purpose of the data was to look only at FEB ranking of snowfalls. There was probably a better way for me to focus on Feb, but that was simplest-fastest for me. This is valid for FEB only.
I put this together at the end of December - if anyone wants to sort across all the months.
