  3. Gotcha! There's a 50-50 chance that it could especially if makes it to 110+ mph prior to landfall
  4. Is anyone under the impression that the NWS Slidell office would be wrong to issue an Excessive Wind Warning for the lower Louisiana parishes upon the eyewall coming upon land? The radar imagery is signifying an intensifying hurricane northern eyewall with intense lightning that could be a Cat 3 when it arrives...
  5. I have family in NOLA. Katrina was a minimal Cat 3 with winds around 115-120 mph (sustained) when it hit NOLA in 2005. However, it still had the storm surge of its previous Cat 5 intensity upon its landfall
  6. Ah, my favorite part the tornado threat is starting to come in. One thing I learned from any strengthening tropical system upon landfall is its ground friction and localized wind shear is greater than sustaining or dying landfalling tropical systems. This is going to be a likely tornado outbreak for anyone along the front right quadrant of this system. Greater NOLA, Greater Birmingham, and Metro Atlanta will need to be very attentive of the tornadic potential through tonight and tomorrow morning...
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't make it as a low end Cat 3 for sure. This is insane. It's defying all forecast projections of its weakening upon landfall...
  8. That's clearly a hook echo over the Tenleytown area of NW DC.
  9. Yeah the rotation passed very close to me and there was roaring noise outside when it was near me. I think it was a tornado
  10. New tornado warning for Chester County
  11. Several reports of the storm debris along Fairview Road near Southpark is showing up on social media. There might have been a small tornado on the ground near Southpark indicative of the rotation signature
  12. There were 2 tornado watches that have been issued in the last 30 minutes. Everyone from DC to GSP are now under a tornado watch.
  13. It was me that posted that HRRR data from 11AM this morning. The wind profiles are picking up across the Upstate of SC and Western NC with these storms per the Base wind velocity and composite from both the Greer and Columbia NWS radars. I would be watching those discrete cells that are crossing Greenville, Pickens, and Anderson counties as they get closer to Spartanburg and Cherokee counties. The instability levels are much higher over the Spartanburg area and Gaffney because of the sunshine from earlier today. These cells could start to further intensify as they head towards the Charlotte Metro.
  14. At what point will the pro forecasters and meteorologists admit that UK and ICON models are onto something that the NHC refuses to admit? It's bizarre because the storm is starting to move WSW rather than W now via infrared GOES and visible satellite imagery. This storm is looking more and more like a Florida landfall is going to occur.
  15. Ironically this region is long overdue for an enhanced risk of severe weather and tornado threat. This idea of a cool air wedge always protecting North Georgia is silly. It's still in the Deep South, which is known for severe weather.
  16. Nobody is covering the longlived TDS supercells in Central Alabama?
  17. PDS Tornado Watch issued until 11:00PM Central
  18. The storm over Madison County is rotating with large hail...
