  1. GFS has an event for the mountains around 276 this go around but I will eat my hat if a storm goes from Charleston to Lumberton to Albemarle with that setup.
  2. Yep. There was even a significant event on the control late in the run, even if it took a stupid track(a low is not going to go from Biloxi to Troy to Auburn to the Cumberland Plateau) with damming high in place and a significant -NAO.
  3. If you want a really warm day, it looks like Sunday is the last day for any sort of extreme warmth. After Sunday, it looks average at best going to below average week 2.
  4. Only copperhead we’ve ever found was right after Florence under our trash can. It was a baby.
  5. Yep, you still have clay around Durham. Once you go east of the fall line, the soil turns less and less clay. There’s actually so much clay here that you have a lot of ceramics and such being made with it. Randolph County has a lot of homemade pottery stores.
  6. Doesn’t look too warm outside of NYE and NYD
  7. I think I read the weeklies featured a strong -NAO two weeks from now
  8. If it’s 70 degrees for two weeks, it’s going to be really hard for snow to stick efficiently. We need the cold for that and the ski industry.
  9. I swear I don’t understand the pessimism.
  10. Euro Control run did what you thought this might do and buried Hampton Roads and NE NC. I don’t think much made it west of Burlington if it even made it there.
  11. It has been rough around Columbia for some time now.
  12. Oh cool. I didn’t know the EPA had such a big presence in RTP until I got here from Charlotte. That is a decent enough part of town. It’s about 10-15 minutes, give or take, to downtown Durham from there. If it’s a longer term thing for you after the six months, you may want to try for north of the eno if snow is important to you. You’ll do a bit better than most of the metro there but where you really want to be is north of 85 for that sort of thing. I know you think down here it won’t matter but trust me, it does make a difference.
  13. Durham is the best place to live in the Triangle. Where are you going to be working? Do you have a place to live already? I’ve only seen one cottonmouth since I’ve been here. Mosquitos can be rough in the summer but the further you are from a body of water, they get better.
  14. Noted the 18z GEFS upped totals for much of the foothills.
  15. Yeah that’s three runs in a row that has a piece of energy rounding the base of the trough. I imagine it’ll enhance things up there and maybe provide some snow showers east of there.
