  1. Pretty impressive contrast in air masses across Iowa. Low 70s dews in central IA, with mid 30 degree dews up in northwestern IA.
  2. MLI tied a record high today with 93. Both here and DVN hit 92, with peak heat index temps 102 here and at MLI. One week ago today we had a high of only 51. and that was a midnight high lol.
  3. RGEM backed off on the heat a bit, now only showing 99 here for tomorrow.
  4. The Euro has been showing that for 4+ days. It's been amazingly consistent with showing convection dropping straight south out of WI through the DVN/LOT areas.
  5. Warmest day of the year so far at 86 here. Both MLI and DVN hit at least 88. Looks like 91-94 tomorrow with 98-103 peak heat indices.
  6. We're not going to be too far away from heat advisory conditions Tue/Wed. If we were to reach the HA threshold of 105 heat index, that would be pretty insane considering we had freeze advisories only about 2 weeks ago. Doubt a freeze advisory and a heat advisory have ever been within a few weeks of each other before for this area.
  7. I googled it. Now I'm gonna get constipation medication ads on fb for awhile lol.
  8. Yeah there's a huge area of relative humidity readings under 10%. The winner is Snyder with 102/-5 for 2% humidity lol. Just between Abilene and Dallas the dews go from the low 20s to the 70s.
  9. Temps down in central Texas are between 105-108 this afternoon. Seems pretty early for that. Dews in the 70s are up into southern OK already.
  10. Euro continues to show mid 70 dews both Tue and Wed. With temps near 90 we could conceivably see heat index temps AOA 100 both days. The pool of 4500-6000J/kg cape that sort of hangs around for both days is pretty insane for early-mid May. Usually don't see big pools of heavy cape like that until deeper into June. Incredible change on the way to say the least.
  11. 55 here today with very light rain all day, picked up 0.23". Glad this is the last day of this awful weather.
  12. Was just laughing as I was browsing through the Euro run from this morning. It has us only dropping to 73 for a low temp Tuesday morning. Almost seems unfathomable after all the cold. That's 21 degrees warmer than our high was today lol. Also has the first bigtime cape of the year around here Tuesday afternoon/eve.
  13. Haha our total during that same stretch is 9.76" lol. Ended up just under an inch total here, as high-efficient tropical drizzle/light rain fell most of the day.
  14. Euro shows highs near 90 Tue-Thu next week for a large portion of the sub, even up to Bo-ville. Quite the drastic change on the way it appears. Today it looks like we may stay AOB 50. Picked up 0.53" rain so far this morning.
  15. The cool thing is I've always wondered what it'd be like to live on Mt Washington. Now I know.
  16. lol, indeed. Unlike last weekend when the neighborhood was alive with people outdoors doing their thang, this weekend it's like a ghost town. The only sound you hear is the roaring of the wind through the mostly bare trees. Good day to binge on the finale of Ozark I guess lol.
  17. Great start to May! Heavy overcast, 30mph winds again, and afternoon temps in the 40s.
  18. Lame system for this area as expected. Picked up 0.06 last night, zero today. Made it to 75 today which was nice.
  19. That nasty cold air from northeast IL is ripping in here on 30mph east winds. Was 56 at 3pm, but has dropped back to 46. EDIT: And 25 min later down to 43. Sheesh.
  20. Think it's pretty much safe to say that the current seasonal total at ORD of 32.8" will hold and be the final tally. Congrats to the following 10 peeps for guessing the correct amount range of 30.1-35.0"... @Chicago916 @michsnowfreak @Hoosier @Snowstorms @thomp2mp @Baum @weatherbo @Stebo @mimillman @TheClimateChanger For the 2nd question ORD failed to breach the 8" snowstorm mark. Out of the 10 members who guessed the correct seasonal snowfall range, only one member guessed NO for a 8" snowfall, and a big congrats to @TheClimateChanger for guessing that right, so you are the champion of the POLL thread. Thanks to everyone who participated.
  21. We had a pretty impressive tornado outbreak in the DVN cwa in late July of '95. https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/current/mcview.phtml?prod=comprad&java=script&mode=archive&frames=100&interval=5&year=1995&month=7&day=27&hour=15&minute=15
  22. 32 here this morning. Winds stayed frisky through sunrise otherwise temps would have been deep into the 20s.
