0.41" of rain here today. Looking really lush out there.
-
Low 60 dews will be like a breath of fresh Canadian air around these parts in July lol. Hit 85 here today. Most of the area trees have fully grown leaves now. Other than the farm fields it looks like mid summer around here. EDIT: Good luck on the chase trip Stebo

I'm ready for another derecho
-
A few fields around here have corn up now. The first step to our 80 degree dews in about 40 days from now lol.
-
Nice! Finished with 1.67" here, a hearty soaking. Just south of here they got 3-4". Temp only made it to 63 here today with spits of drizzle under a heavy overcast. 29 degrees cooler than yesterday.

Man this site is a morgue tonight lol. High quality evening to be sure. Have had thunder pretty much continuous for the past 7 hours, with at least another few to go. The light show has been top notch several times throughout the evening. Up to 0.69" for the evening as brief downpours have slowly added up.

Nice wake low action. Getting some 40-45mph southeasterlies.
-
We have dropped 30 degrees from a few hours ago, from 92 back down to 62. Picked up 0.19" of rain, but a nice light show the past hour or so. Getting 40mph gusts still well behind the main downdrafts. Sort of reminds of the derecho in that regard, but obv not even close to the intensity. DVN ended up hitting 67mph, and across the river at Clinton they hit 66mph.
-
Lots of thunder with anvil sprinkles. Heaviest stuff gonna just barely miss to the south. Don't want the large hail, but some rain woulda been nice. DVN just gusted to 64mph.
-
Looks like it's only in the 50s up in Palmville WI. Ouch.
-
MLI ended up at 92. Nice severe out by Iowa City.
-
First 90 of the year here today. New record high at MLI of 90, so far. Got my first good sweat on of the year out working in the yard most of the day.
-
0.00" here. Guess we'll try again tonight.

zzzzzz

Dews have jumped up into the low 60s. That combined with temps over 80 makes it feel a little more summery out there this afternoon. Hoping the Iowa storms later tonight don't turn into sloppy seconds for the QCA.
-
Yeah. It's like the system's compass setting got set 90 degrees in the wrong direction.
-
DVN's radar is all whacko right now. Somehow they have the image turned counter-clockwise by 90 degrees. The precip is moving north-northwest on the animation when it should be moving east-northeast. The ground clutter from the giant wind farm down in Henry county is now up in northern Whiteside CO. You can see it on the COD site, and other software programs show the same thing, so it's definitely a DVN issue. Their radar was down for awhile the other day. Wonder if something got screwed up putting it back online.

Humidity values got as low as 15% late this afternoon. Had temps near 80 with dews around 30. We can definitely use some moisture, as it's starting to dry out quite a bit around here. Only 0.09" since Apr 17.

79 here today. Lots of farmers out planting
-
Looks like we may have a few shots at hitting 90 over the next 7-10 days. Bring it on.
-
Another freeze this morning here with 31 degrees. Luckily it was only AOB freezing for about an hour.

This time last year we were one week away from a 4-day stretch of mid 90s. DVN hit 97 on May 12. Peak heat indices reached around 105. That was an extraordinary stretch of early season heat. The mid 70 dews made it even more impressive. Usually to get that hot this early you need a dry heat.

Spring 2023 Medium/Long Range Discussion
cyclone77 replied to Chicago Storm's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
Bout time, ready to move onto warm air and rumblerz. I feel ma nature owes me a high risk as well, since was out of town Mar 31st. -
Significantly better day here today compared to yesterday's trash. Luckily the clouds cleared enough that temps rocketed into the low 60s. Even with the 50mph winds it felt pretty nice out there.
-
This ranks up there at the top of shittiest weather days possible for the very end of April. Just awful. 40 degrees with steady very light rain that is too light to benefit any living plants. 40mph winds added for a dash of misery. Anything following this day of garbage weather will be an improvement.
