81 here/82 at DVN today. Ladybugs have exploded in population over the past few days. Seeing a ton of box elder bugs too.

Temps overachieved here this morning with a low of 32. 3rd freeze of the month/season so far.

Think we're at about peak color around here now. The full sun today really made the colors pop. Only trees not fully turned are the oaks, but even they are starting to color up now.

Some wild temp swings on the way over the next 7-10 days. Should make the 80s Tuesday, and by next Monday may have a hard time getting out of the 40s. Typical roller coaster mid autumn stuff.

33 here this morning for nearly the 3rd freeze already.

The final total is 4.23" here. Ground feels pretty spongy walking around the yard.
Farmers had worked pretty hard to get most of the fields harvested over the past few weeks, but some were delayed by the recent rains. Looks to dry out for them so they can get back out again here pretty soon.

Up to 4.01" now since Wednesday.

Massive 3-day soaker ongoing. Up to 1.42" for today bringing the 48hr total up to 3.65". More rain to come tonight, so 4"+ looking likely.

2.23" here last night and early this morning. Best soaker of the year. Another 1-2" tomorrow looks like.

Nice stormy evening, with several hours of thunder and passing downpours. Almost an inch so far, with several more rounds to go through the night.

Some potent cells with hail have popped over here. Hail up to 1.50" has been reported.
Looks like your area is getting trained with some hailers.

That sounds expensive. What is the payback period on that? Also do you have very many windows? Glass is a poor insulator.
Quadruple pane.
Got down to 35 here this morning for the coldest temp of the season so far. Have a shot at freezing briefly tonight.

More patchy frost tonight, and perhaps a first freeze on the way for tomorrow night.
Most of the fields have been harvested around here now, and most lawns are coated by a scattering of colorful leaves. Looking very Octoberish this weekend.

Next week's big storm is still flopping around a bit. The GFS was south of Iowa a couple days ago, but now it has jumped way north and dumps most of its rain over SD/MN. The UK is still south. The Canadian and Euro are in between, hitting Iowa hard.
Just like winter being in the bullseye 4+ days out is usually the kiss of death.
Some scattered frost here this morning as temps made it down to 38.
