p confident we see a northern max band that overperforms somewhere over the cwa with a subsidence screw zone between it and the main systems snows further south out of our area
Chambana looking right. 6.2” final call. Should be a solid event.

Liking my coordinates at this time. Something of a decent magnitude to finally track!

18z going to be another good run for the central IL crowd
Indeed. Waiting for that “miss south stank” from @A-L-E-K then all is good in the world. Jokes aside, finally a system to track, let’s just enjoy it lol.

SE and weak. There were a couple of doomsday runs (similar to the pre Christmas storm iirc) before it quickly went back to being a decent -but not insanely historic- snowstorm.
Hey that’s my biggest storm in the last 10 years you are talking about! Now apologize

Snow just starting here. 15-17" by 1 am looks good. Have a commitment down in Negaunee for a portion of today. My trek home this afternoon will be interesting.
I love when you stop in and just casually drop your 12-18” totals like it’s nothing, meanwhile we are analyzing models to see who gets a 1-2” thump.Someday I’d love to experience a snowstorm in bo land or @BuffaloWeather

Looks like a general 3-5” tonight across the twin cities. Closer to 6” far south and less to the north. This should replenish all we lost to the rain, and give the snowpack that nice clean look again.
what’s a snowpack?- 1

Euro and GFS all have a signal for a potential snowstorm somewhere in the Great Lakes area next Thursday. There's nothing else track-worthy so I'm all in on this one.
You know winter has sucked when your focus has shifted to a potential snowstorm 7+ days out. Even michsnowfreak can’t polish this turd (still love your endless optimism)- 1

There’s been three threads created for wintry systems since December 1st lol. Goes to show the dire times. Rest of January ain’t looking so hot neither.

GFS is really trying for a respectable wintry system late week. Guess much will depend on the amount of confluence to the north. GFS has a good amount of that with a respectable resultant surface high in place.
Toss.

It really is. This time next weekend we are officially 50% through met winter. Man I’m only 33 and time is just passing by in a flash.

Wasting peak winter as has been the trend the last years. 1.5” season total, with nothing on the horizon until at least middle January.

Winds really getting after it now. Heavy band of snow just off to my west, things should really get going here soon. Really hoping I can squeeze out 3.5”

LOT bumped totals an inch for I-55 and east, now 3-5". My p&c now has 3-7". Also considered upgrading the same area to a Blizzard Warning, but don't think it'll quite meet visibility/wind criteria. 9z HRRR and RAP look pretty solid.
Yeah I noticed one county north of me (Ford) upped their totals from 2-4 to 3-6. Champaign it looks like is sticking to 2-4.

WSW hoisted for my area, 4-6” with higher amounts possible, should be a solid event here. This track is always generous to my region.
