Unbelievable. 89’d again today. We just can’t seem to reach 90 this summer. This is I believe the 11th time we’ve been 89’d.

Walleye fishermen myself, nice catch there man! Lots of good eating, walleye, bluegill, and crappie are my favorite. Nothing better than a huge fish fry with coleslaw, baked beans, and hush puppies.

He was saying that most of the guys with corn in are real concerned that with how wet it has been, the corn hasn’t had to “dig down” to find moisture. This leads to a much shallower root structure, increasing the susceptibility to blow downs with summertime storms. Already had some corn blown down around here from yesterday’s storms, along with a good amount of tree damage to the golf course in sycamore. A good derecho/severe wind event would cause havoc with how waterlogged everything is. 

 

 

 

Yeah, I noticed in the pictures posted from the weak EF-1 tornado that touched down in Gifford/Rantoul the corn was blown over practically laying completely flat. 

Here in Champaign county we have been pretty waterlogged as well, some areas in the county have recorded 10” this month. I will say however, the corn crop looks incredibly healthy, with tassling already occurring. The earliest I can recall.

Brief touchdown in Gifford, which if you all remember was the same town that got leveled during the 11/17/13 outbreak. 

Lots of downed trees, power lines, even stop lights hanging off the poles, hard to tell if straight line winds or possible tornado. 

Mine thing is for certain any drought talk in this area should be erased, at least IMBY anywhere from 3-5” over the last 4 days

Yeah over in the Copper Ridge/Ironwood subdivision.

Ryan Maue tweeted out the euro weeklies yesterday and boy is it ugly, was advertising a very cold start to May.
