  1. I never realized that the ‘38 storm was a CAT 5 at one point
  2. Maybe we can get a smoke-a-cane if we can’t get the hurricane
  3. Never really felt it with Henri. Too many things had to go “perfectly” for it to be a big deal up here
  4. No lightning with this so I’m kinda meh about it
  5. Harvey Leonard hitting the severe threat tomorrow afternoon when the rain comes back east
  6. Earlier the storm looked like a fetus but now it looks like a pregnant cat so maybe that’s progress in some dark and unnatural way
  7. Any appreciable tornado risk on the east side?
  8. Hurricane Belle part 2 45 years later
  9. Hurricanes like people were tougher then lol
  10. I’m starting to think this is kind of like a movie which starts out great but ends up having a ridiculously bad ending. I hope I’m wrong
  11. All I know is I have enough bread and milk now to survive two blizzards of ‘78, a derecho and a strong gust front
  12. If it stays a mess NYC can keep it
  13. When should we begin to notice any appreciable intensification with this?
  14. There is for both ‘38 and 1815 in fact
  15. Would the development of an “inner core” be indicative of rapid intensification?
  16. I compared this storm to that one a bit earlier as well
  17. Hurricane Bob was at least a good example of how being on the right or left of the eye can make every difference as far as felt impact
  18. Potential weather event of the decade maybe (locally)?
  19. How could I not know of this?? Grizzly Adams in a hurricane??
  20. When a storm is threatening I like to watch the 70’s classic “When Havoc Strikes” on YouTube. Puts one in the mood
  21. Unless this unexpectedly blows up into a strong cat 3 or 4 today, I definitely think the legacy of this one will be the rain/tidal flooding aspect.
  22. I assume the latest models are now sampling the data from the recon earlier?
  23. With all the rain that’s fallen here this summer I imagine we wouldn’t need an absurd rain total to cause big problems. Those rain totals in Harvey while astounding at least fell in a region where it’s not completely unprecedented. I would imagine here in the cool northeast our ecosystem wouldn’t be able to handle an equivalent total but maybe someone with more knowledge than myself could expand on that.
