If I’m not mistaken it did help put the kibosh on nuclear weapons testing because they were afraid there was a correlation to that causing violent weather. So not hard to imagine your scenario at all
I think the late night August supercell of 2000 which originated in eastern NY and then intensified around Springfield is one of my favorite storm memories as it tracked almost due East through the state.. Tornado warnings and golf ball sized hail from just south of Boston to northern RI. Doesn’t get better than that
I could have sworn during the 90’s this was almost an semi annual occurrence at least once a summer for me. Nothing like walking around late at night in my yard to see the northwest horizon light up about five times a minute.
I’m currently reading “Explaining the Unexplained” by Steven Ellis. Not sure I buy all of it but he has some interesting theories and explanations about religion, UFO’s the paranormal, etc
I remember growing up August was full of severe weather events (not even including the tropical variety) so we are way overdue for an active August.. I liken it almost to how March was so mediocre for snowfall for about a decade and that recently changed a bit
