Seeing some lighter snow again over here; wife let the dog out to poop; he wasn't satisfied with the path I cleared so he went on the pavers; went out to clean it up, couldn't find it; covered already in the last 20 mins.

It was hours long here in parts of NJ. Would have gotten close to 20 without it. Measured several areas and got between 14-15.

I think we are done in CNJ. I don't see that filling in. 10-15 is good storm. Looks like Trenton area didn't get the goods this time. I'm on the edge of that dry slot now. Snow stopped around noon or so and changed to sleet, never changed fully back.

Not far from you. Maybe it will flip back. Insane winds now. Stopped hearing pinging but no flip to snow. Precip seems to have stopped.

The sleet seems focused in CNJ; not what was expected. I think you may top out higher than us; It is sleeting quite hard; we are losing big bands to sleet. It is quite persistent now.

Happens more often than not....March 2018 was painful around here...even in Jan the bomb cyclone was unimpressive. Most of the time, in my experience, the totals are overdone. Once in awhile they hit it, bit more often than not, a number of areas see less than forecast. And 5 inches is really a bust for you. But I don't believe most of NJ is gonna see 20 inches. If it flips back you'll probably pick up some more. Right now, that sleet is persisting, and until I see evidence otherwise, I don't expect much more. Now, someone will jump on my case here, and that's fine. If I knew the future, I'd have won the mega millions ( or billion! ).

Indeed. But that sleet out there is wicked sounding. There's some snow mixed in at times. Its waffling. Might change back. Who knows. I'm done cleaning for today. Not going out again. Especially not in stinging sleet.

Saw that in Jan 2011; wound up with 19 total. It actually rained for a period in that storm, then went to sleet and later back to snow. So it can happen. I too have forgotten how longer events can unfold, again with so many progressive patterns in recent years.

If its rain and sleet, I would tend to think, based on experience, our bigger accumulation chances are largely over in those regions....damn sleet is always under-predicted. Still a nice storm with a ways to go. Still who would turn their noses up at 12+? After the last 3 years?

Directly across from SI... right on the water. Small town with an urban feel. Shares some municipal services with Woodbridge.

How shall we celebrate your coming 50,000th post? Maybe a ticket to a ski resort in Argentina in July? Bariloche?

It was not a widespread slow down but " some" workers did work slower....the major reason for the snafu was on the city management, which delayed declaring an emergency, allowing too many people to park on the street. This was the major reason for the difficulty cleaning up. it also allowed buses to operate, many were stranded blocking intersections and streets.

Reminds me of Boxing Day in the metro region, though that storm plastered coastal areas with the worst ( I think Brick had 36 inches, as did Elizabeth ). It just kept pivoting over the city IIRC.

You still use a shovel? God bless you man. I've got a few snowblowers ( long story ) and neighbors asking to borrow; I've told them yes, but I'm not offering tutorials during a pandemic.

That has been reported; I don't remember the sleet, because it was such a wicked and long, and at the time, shocking storm. Seen a few storms nearly as big since then....

The sociology of the school system is in place as much to provide a safe place for kids while parents work ( "in loco parentis " ) as it is for anything else, as we are painfully learning. Likewise, there is little justification to bring many workers to the office when weather is bad, as many things in the financial and tech fields can be done from home. But this also means frontline workers of all stripes bear the brunt of things. Let's all wish them well as they are out there today so that we can stay home safely, whether it's first responders, utility workers, healthcare providers, grocery workers or delivery people.
