  1. Hopefully a good sign as we head into winter. Need the storm tracks to continue.
  2. Made it down to 23 at my station and the leaves of the Ginko tree are tumbling down.
  3. Long Island Parkways were salted too. I was traveling west on the Southern State Parkway through Suffolk and Nassau and saw NYS DOT salt spreaders laying down salt. At least in Suffolk County the roads were wet and there was light snow falling. In Nassau the road was dry and they were spreading salt. I'm sure the LI Expy was also treated.
  4. Some streets already pre-salted here in Brooklyn. It’s 57 degrees. Don’t think we are having a flash freeze. It’s not even raining yet
  5. It's official. NYC Sanitation has issued a "snow alert" for tomorrow for a coating of snow DSNY Issues ‘Snow Alert’ for Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 10 a.m. The New York City Department of Sanitation has issued a Snow Alert for Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 10 a.m. In a snow alert, DSNY coordinates with NYC Emergency Management and the Department of Transportation on snow clearing protocol in accordance with each agency’s written snow plan. All relevant city agencies have been notified of the snow alert. DSNY will continue to monitor forecasts and will provide updates as the snow event approaches.
  6. I have a fully green Ginkgo directly in front of my house. Temp only got down to 29 here last night. Leaves still on the tree. Last year it was green but we had a freeze with temps in the mid 20s and all the green leaves came down over the next day or so. Guess it wasn’t quite cold enough here. Maybe Tue night gets it done this upcoming week.
  7. Frost on the cars here in Brooklyn. First of the season. 42 air temp.
  8. Larry Cosgrove in his latest blog says most of US to be in pac zonal flow with periodic cold air intrusions between the Rockies and Appalachians at least through the 3rd week of December.
  9. Here is another "early" winter weather forecast: https://www.weatherconcierge.com/the-weather-concierge-winter-forecast-of-2018-19/
  10. Bernie Rayno says to follow the upper low (just north of it's track) for the snow. Will make its own cold air. Has the northern half of PA, southern NYS and northern half of NJ, NYC and western L.I. for a changeover to snow.
  11. ...Or the once an hour (during the daytime hours-report was usually repeated for a couple of hours before it would be updated 2 or 3 times a day) for a live Accuweather report on 1010 WINS when Dr. Joe Sobel or Eliot Abrams or JB would come on the air.
  12. Bernie Rayno said upcoming pattern looks like the first couple of weeks in Feb will be cold and stormy in the east. Not too enthusiastic about Mon-Tue. Says that may give eastern New England a few inches of snow. He said pattern looks like it wants to form a storm and move it up along the eastern seaboard in the next week Friday time frame. We shall see.
  13. Jeff Smith from Channel 7 in NYC (AccuWeather outlet) just updated snowfall amounts
  14. Bernie Rayno (used the word epic) heading in to work to make a video. Says no reason not to go with the 12z European. Also said to expect at least some mixing into I-95. "Tremendous" snow just west of 95
  15. Well Bernie Rayno just tweeted he thinks there will be some mixing up to I-95 with the storm. Maybe he (and AccuWeather) are factoring that in to accumulations?
  16. Bernie posted on Twitter a short while ago the GFS 12Z 500mb map is slowly coming around to the Euro showing a stronger storm for Sat-Sun. He will have a new video coming out after 2pm.
  17. Nick Gregory's (from FOX-5 NYC) winter forecast http://www.fox5ny.com/weather/214931324-story?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
