  1. Wind gusted to 41 mph here a couple of minutes ago. Temp 17/Wind chill +1
  2. Temp down to 32 now at my station in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn. Most of the streets/sidewalks have been wind swept dry except for standing areas of water.
  3. Wind advisories up for the entire tri-state area 6pm tonight through midnight Monday night.
  4. Temp down 7 degrees to 42 with the wind shift to the NW. Barometer at 29.24 with the low basically overhead.
  5. Looks like a squall line (sort of) on radar is marching eastward across NJ towards NYC.
  6. 1.56 inches of rain so far at my station. Temp up to 48 on a SE wind.
  7. Tidal flooding now along the Wantagh Pky at Ocean Pky on Long Island (and I’m guessing in Freeport as well) Also along parts of Jamaica Bay in southern Queens.
  8. Rain in Howard Beach. City transit buses I’ve seen have chains on their tires.
  9. 37/29 southern Brooklyn. Even if it does start as snow, roads will be wet unless it comes down really heavy.
  10. Flash flood watches just posted for much of the area
  11. Probably “seeing” the storm/energy ejecting farther south in the mid-section of the country then earlier model runs. Thus, it stays a bit farther south as it comes east.
  12. This could be the kind of situation where areas along the south shore of NYC (JFK, southern Brooklyn, Rockaway, Staten Island) change to rain and have temps 33-35 while upper Manhattan and Bronx have freezing rain/sleet with temps 28-32.
  13. It all depends on where the arctic boundary (front) sets up and at what time SLP forms along it. It will track right along it.
  14. Worst I’ve ever seen around here was 1994. Temperature around 25 degrees with heavy rain. Everything was coated with around an inch of ice afterwards. The ice stayed for several days as temps were in the teens by day and single digits at night.
  15. I know what they are banking on but lots of dry air to overcome with very light precip rates (if any) from staying virga.
  16. NYC Sanitation salt trucks were out spreading salt this morning in 40+ degrees with daytime highs forecast to be in the mid 40s
  17. I don’t think the systems (northern stream and E Pacific storm) are over land yet. Let’s see if better sampling changes anything when they do come closer.
  18. 1.23 inches at my station so far. Max wind gust of 31 mph
  19. Lag gusting to 40 mph last hour. Rest of area gusting into the 30s. Mostly SE. Wonder how bad high tide is going to be along the Jersey shore and southern NYC/Long Island this morning.
  20. Co-worker came in from Suffolk county this morning and got into a multi car accident coming downhill off the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge due to black ice.
  21. Wind advisories up for the area. Gusts up to 45 mph expected late tonight through Friday night. Eastern Massachusetts has a high wind watch up.
