  1. I know we have fantastic snow removal operations at our upstate airports but it still amazes me they can keep the flights going in weather like this. Obviously instrument flight rules are in effect.
  2. Sorry SouthBuffaloSteve, I thought you meant the 3 obs were over a 3 hour period.
  3. The bottom two observations are special obs at 1827Z and 1848Z and the third is the regular observation at 1854Z so this isn’t a 3 hour period.
  4. The band that was up in the thousand islands earlier s now getting swept off the lake with the arctic front. That’s what you were in the middle of.
  5. Looks like the Buffalo airport is getting blitzed right now. 1/16 mile visibility in heavy snow! Are planes taking off and landing in that? KBUF 301654Z 26019G30KT 1/16SM R23/1200V2200FT +SN BLSN VV012 M18/M21 A2988 RMK AO2 PK WND 26030/1650 SLP135 P0000 T11781206
  6. Light pixie dust falling here ahead of the arctic front.
  7. It’s snowing light to moderate here coming up on one inch. I believe Syracuse has already surpassed it’s record low snowfall.

  10. I was tempted to post the same thing. Par for the course, not that it will amount to anything but a mile south of me it’s probably snowing pretty good.

  12. If you ask me these maps are getting to be something of a joke. How much faith can anyone put in them when they seem to change significantly every time they’re updated. Just yesterday they had 4-6 inches for southern Oswego County which is a stone throw from where I live. Now it’s down to <1 inch. Someone would need to be constantly checking for updates to see what the latest forecast is and how many people outside of us s do that?
  13. Just started snowing heavily here in the last 5 minutes. The orientation of the band to the southwest gives me hope it might last here a little longer than 10 minutes.
  14. If you look at the orientation of this Lake Erie band west of Sodus it could end up orienting from Oswego to Mexico to Pulaski.
  15. Snow should be ending downtown in the next half hour as the band moves north.
  16. If you look at the Albany radar it actually extends all the way to Vermont!
  17. Both bands drifting north right now. The Lake Ontario band looks like it will end up north of Watertown this morning. I might get a few crumbs off that Lake Erie band but probably nothing more than mood flakes.
  18. 1.7 inches here overnight. A couple flakes in the air right now, what a tease!
  19. It doesn’t look that impressive but it’s producing right now.
  20. The mesos had a band just south of us at 2Z moving through here around 4Z on it’s way north. They didn’t show a fairly stationary band over us this early.
