  1. Just to rub salt in the wound, snowfall in the Alps (Filzmoos, Austria) today:
  2. There’s hope for you guys, at least off Lake Ontario. https://www.localsyr.com/weather/blogs/winter-in-a-week-2007-oswego-county-snow-record/215100460
  3. The effects of the SSW should start affecting the troposphere around mid month. Hopefully that will be the impetus for real winter weather.
  4. We now know who’s been stealing our snow. Eastern Europe has been getting buried the last few days especially the mountainous areas of Greece and the Balkans. The Alps have been getting massive amounts of snow from what is called the Stau effect. This is basically an orographic driven phenomenon caused when winds hit the Alps perpendicular to the mountain range. The air rises and drops large amount of snow. Now the Appenine Mountains of central Italy are forecast to be buried by ocean effect off of the Adriatic Sea. The cold air is extensive enough for this to extend all the way to the mountains of Sicily.
  5. I agree that pitching is the main issue. Severino needs to get his act together and become the dependable ace the Yankees need. He has the stuff. I was hoping they would land Syndergaard from the Mets. Just watching him cut his hair to comply with team rules would have been worth it, lol.
  6. So you’re from the George Steinbrenner school that says you can’t have enough superstars on your team. I personally loved the 2017 team that had a lot of good young hungry players. Those players are coming into their prime. Let Andujar continue to develop both offensively and defensively, he will only be 24 this season. At least I respect his attitude.
  7. Maybe some good news? http://www.severe-weather.eu/long-range-2/sudden-stratospheric-warming-underway/?fbclid=IwAR2_DEm5NEWCQEmiBCG7QJNudDYRMFf7lcUEwUBG3VRmUbfk9XXxeXCQb8Y
  8. Plant a few palm trees and it looks like your picture above, lol.
  9. Merry Christmas to everyone! The 5 inches of snow that fell here last night was timed perfectly to insure a white Christmas. Not only is the ground covered but the wet snow stuck to everything and it’s a winter wonderland out there!
  10. Just got home from my niece’s just outside of Central Square. I got about 4 3/4 inches here. I81 wasn’t too bad, wet with slushy spots but the county roads haven’t been touched yet and are pretty treacherous.
  11. I’m at 31 inches for the season but only 5.5 for December.
  12. That’s funny! I guess any temperature above 0 is considered summer on the Tug!
  13. I measured 0.8 inches of snow and 0.68 liquid as of 7:30 this morning. Might have gotten enough snow since then to bring me to and inch total.
  14. Thunder being reported over the finger lakes.
  15. I drove up the Thruway from Utica this afternoon. Beautiful blue skies and the temperature hit 69 on my car thermometer around Canastota As I headed north on 481/81 the temperature started to drop and skies became cloudy. Before I went home I drove over by the boat launch at Oneida Shores park to see the advection fog on Oneida Lake. The temperature there was 48 degrees.
  16. The coastal system around Christmas has now become a northern stream clipper type as the southern stream energy gets left behind in the southwest, at least on the operational GFS.
  17. I’m dreaming of a White Christmas? Still 2 weeks to go, we’ll see.
  18. The GFS has been all over the place with this system. Here’s the 12Z solution at the same time frame. I wouldn’t start taking this seriously until mid week.
  19. The Lake Erie band is beginning to move south. You’re going to see that propagate across Lake Ontario over the next few hours.
  20. It’s really coming down here but at 34 it’s not really accumulating.
