The point is that the more people carrying the virus the greater the chance it can find it’s way to the vulnerable population. Which brings me to your second point. It’s fallacious to compare the chance of dying in a car accident or a shooting to dying from Covid-19. Dying in a car accident is a random singular act. It happens and it’s over. No one else in a car behind you is going to die. If you walk around with the carona virus and you will infect at least one or two other people who in turn will infect one or two others until it spreads through the population eventually finding a vulnerable individual. If we can stop that by preventing the first individual from being infected we can save lives.

I would like to know at what age does the value of life start to decline? You contradict yourself, first you say if they’re over 70 they’re going to die anyways then you say your 86 year old grandmother means the world to you and you’re doing everything you can to protect her. So I guess if you don’t know someone their life if disposable so you can resume your normal lifestyle? Remember, people over 70 are someone’s grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, sister or brother and mean the same to those people as your grandmother means to you. I know you’re young and feel bulletproof and chomping at the bit to resume the activities you enjoy. But we can’t just drop all of the mitigation measures that have at least kept this virus manageable without expecting a jump in infections, hospitalizations and deaths. And just a reminder, there are people in your demographic that have gotten seriously ill from Covid-19.

Assuming it takes an infection rate of 60% to achieve herd immunity nearly 200 million Americans would have to be infected. With a mortality rate of even 0.5% close to a million people would die. That’s a scary thought.

Why are you jumping to conclusions and calling Gov. Cuomo a bust and claim that he is lying? If you did some research you would find that the NYS death figures do not include probable Covid-19 deaths which are included in the Worldometer figures. It almost seems like you are taking these statistics personally.

It figures that my wife and I have been talking about doing some traveling once we were both retired. I’ve been retired coming up on 4 years and she just retired on Valentines Day this year. 2 days before she retired our 14 year old Bichon Frise collapsed. She spent several days at the VMC in East Syracuse and did ok in oxygen but crashed when taken out. We finally took her home in a makeshift oxygen tent but she wasn’t doing well so we euthanized her on 2/20. Then our other dog, who had cancer, dies in front of us on April 14. So we’re now dogless and free to travel but of course the corona virus hits and there goes the chance to travel. I would just as soon forget 2020.

Remdesivir is a treatment for Covid 19, not a vaccine. As Kramer was saying on CNBC this morning if a treatment can be developed that greatly reduces the risk of death from this virus it will be a game changer for the economy. People are deathly (sorry for the pun) afraid of dying and will not return to normal economic behavior until that fear is alleved.

We usually try to make it there once every year just to walk around, get something to eat, check out the sand and butter sculptures, etc. Now that we’re both retired we can go during the week when crowds aren’t as bad. The older I get the more I hate putting up with large crowds

Not in New York State. 10 days ago deaths were almost 800 a day. Now it’s down to 337. I think you’re looking at national numbers which are going up in other parts of the country.

Business will not be back to normal for quite a while, probably not until an effective vaccine is developed. Expect social distancing to remain in effect and all large gatherings such as sporting events, concerts and fairs to be cancelled. Be ready for a “new” normal.

He needs to continue to use the same way of counting that he’s used from the start if trends are to mean anything.

They don’t. Our county executive had closed all but state run golf courses in Onondaga County but once Cuomo opened privately run courses he had to defer to that.
