  1. Getting back into the snow after the well advertised lull. Already nice flake size under lighter returns. Should really crank as the returns over S Dekalb Co work north.
  2. Got maybe an inch of slushy on the roads/concrete last night, but should be a solid base for accums once the defo band starts up later this morning.
  3. Very “public” friendly too, gives the normies a fair idea of what to actually expect
  4. Of course the battery in my weather station goes bad tonight. Not going to have any real time backyard obs because I am too lazy and warm to go outside and change it lol
  5. I think the most I have seen on any guidance is ~12"
  6. Man, GFS with a textbook track for an epic Chicago blizzard.
  7. 18Z HRRR even more juiced than the NAM out west, but east it really nukes the totals.
  8. I don't need that negativity. Shut up and get in the "Happening Bunker".
  9. Been a lonnng time since I had to keep multiple storm thread straight at the same time.
  10. Dry slot is brutal, but the NAM had that defo band rockin.
  11. Not a bad problem to have when the "slider/weaker" look is a 985 low sliding into the OV.
  12. Thank you. Mine also has been sitting for two years and it is on my list this afternoon to get running.
  13. Euro is south as well. Going to be real nice for N IL edit: well it started a bit further south, then ends up a touch N
  14. 970mb over DTW. Sign me up. Absolute crush job for most of the mitten.
  15. Yeah, I just still have a bitter taste for the winter after the GFS "upgrade" recently where it was a steaming pile of dogshit. It gave me trust issues, lol
  16. The classic butterfly effect. I also think that the Euro had a couple big wins way back that then pumped its rep. We seem to remember the wins on the big storms and forget the misses, so it was easy to hold it to its "king" moniker. Now that the competition has caught up, its deficiencies become glaring. Will be real interesting to see which model handles the upcoming storm the best.
  17. 12z NAM gets the rain/snow line to roughly I-55. Really nice storm from a Galesburg to Waukegan line or so. 12Z HRRR is similar. Feeling solid on my call right now.
