  1. I wonder what the difference is between trained spotters professionally measuring with a snowboard vs. me just sticking a yardstick into the snowpack on my deck... I measured 22.5" in the wee hours of the morning last night, and I know there was some compaction going on throughout the event.
  2. I just noticed that we haven't seen a plow come by since around 3pm. Before that we had the big one come by several times and a smaller pickup once or twice. They're probably all being pressed into service on the major roads at the moment. Glad my jobsite cancelled work again tomorrow since I probably won't be able to get out without a lot of digging even after they plow. Also in retrospect, I wish I had set up a camera on the back deck for time-lapse. I'll definitely do that next time. Still snowing, lighter but still decent. Might break 2' before all is said and done. This is our first winter in Reading and the wife and I are loving this. (Her a little bit less so since she works from home lol.) One for the books, and the storm we'll use for comparison for many years to come. I do feel bad that many of us weren't able to cash in on the snow totals this time around and I understand there's a bit of anger and disappointment to be had. It happens, and I've been in the same boat more times than I care to remember. And I'm sure at some point I'll get fringed again while others put up big numbers. But for now, this has turned into an instant winter classic that we'll be talking about for a long time. Cheers and goodnight everyone.
  3. I think it's because earlier our temps were influenced by the low coming over from the Ohio River Valley. Now we're under the influence of the coastal low. I'm up in Muhlenberg, across the river from the airport.
  4. Definitely tapering off but still snowing. 22.5" and 31.8°F here. I can't get over how awesome my back deck looks with almost 2' of snow on it. Super glad I decided to leave the string of lights up.
  5. 22" and 31.6°F IMBY. Snow appears to be lightening up just a bit. I wonder if it's gonna pick up again later tonight or if that's it. My anemometer's clogged again, but I'm in PJ's and can't be arsed to go out there and clear it again.
  6. 21" right now IMBY. Temp up to 31.6°F, and it looks like it might start getting a little breezy if I'm not mistaken. If so, and with snow still falling at current rates around the LV, the drifts tomorrow are gonna be epic...
  7. I feel ya. We got majorly shafted a couple of years back under an almost identical setup. I lived near Coatesville at the time and we were forecasted something on the order of 1-2' of snow. What we actually got was 6" of nothing but sleet. I remember being as angry and as disappointed as you. It sucks, for sure. Hoping you and the rest of the region get better snows in the following weeks.
  8. Front steps have 4" of new snow since I cleared them around 6. Holy 2"/hr batman!
  9. My anemometer got snowed in! I freed it up, but the cups are full of snow so I don't know how accurate it'll be going forward. Still, this was kinda funny to see:
  10. Measured 17" on the back deck and ~16" in the middle of the front yard. Still snowing moderately.
  11. Just cleared the driveway again; measured 9" of new snow since noon, and nearly another 1" fell while I was snowblowing.
  12. I'm not sure about that. I'm already over 12" here in Reading...
  13. Work just got cancelled again for tomorrow. Two snow days in a row! Can't remember the last time that happened. (Work is in SNJ but a lot of ppl have over an hour commute so that's why they pulled the plug I think. Nice change of pace to work somewhere that actually cares about their employees.)
  14. Just measured 4" of new snow since I cleared the driveway 3 hours ago. Puts me right around 10" so far.
  15. Looks like we're transitioning from tiny flakes to bigger ones again. Rates increasing as well. 28.7°F.
  16. Pancake flakes have moved on. Now getting light, fine flakes. I think it was snowing ~1"/hr for a couple of hours though; might head out to clear the driveway again in a bit.
  17. Enjoyed a hot cup of coffee from my backyard shed. Still chucking down huge mammoth flakes mixed in with pingers.
  18. Huge pancake flakes mixing in with the sleet now. Just cleared the driveway, looking like it's already caving lol
  19. My parents report nothing falling in Oxford, PA. Up here in Reading, steady pingers on the windows mixed with light snow atm. 25.3°F. Thinking about firing up the snowblower for an initial pass on the driveway/sidewalk.
  20. I think you can juuuust see the coastal development creeping up the DelMarVa now.
  21. Massive dry SLOT here in Reading. lol Got about 4" of snow so far, not too shabby. Hoping for more tomorrow.
