  1. So the parish house was a no go. One thing I've learned in this area, basements or any foundation below ground is a negative. Completely different than philly area, this area and drainage is terrible. Anyways, curious to get yours and @TugHillMatt thoughts on these 3 houses im looking at. These are in the rome area. 1 is about 9.5 miles northeast of rome or about 4 iles nw of holland patent. Nice house, it's up on a mtn, elev about 1250. The other is about 2 miles northwest of remsen, elev about 1350. Final one is about 2 miles west of west leydon, elev 1560. Whats nice about the west leydon house, its in the heart of the tug, but only 16 miles from Rome, which is hell of a lot better than lowville to watertown.
  2. Ooo yea I’d never just base it off snow, but def something I take into consideration lol. I’m just traumatized over the lowville shadow. So just want an area that gets hit good with lake effect
  3. @wolfie09is this area a decent spot? Not to familiar with down in your hood
  4. Thanks, yea I’ll be somewhere around here. Either around cuse or up in north country close to i81. Would like to stay close to my current job but wherever I find a good house that’s where I’ll go. Two houses this weekend were a no go.
  5. Thanks, we will see what the house brings. Looked at one in the adams area this week and was rather meh.
  6. I feel like everywhere around here is a haven for mosquitoes with the water table being very shallow
  7. Welp, looking at house about 4 miles northeast of parish sunday right by rt 104 about 1.5 miles east of 81
  8. does the west wind snow belt happen alot? Seems like in winter prodiminent flow is generally nw or wnw
  9. it's a trifecta of 3 things. convenience, snow, and job availability. Ive got 3 areas I'm looking at. North of cortland to la fayette area over to cazenvoia. Issue there would be finding something affordable. then hastings to mexico to williamstown to parish. Then Copenhagen to harrisburg to lorraine then parallel 81 to south of watertown. This spot would be ideal as its close to the job I have now
  10. Yea that’s my worry, that forever feeling of a drive lol. O well, we will see what comes about. I’ll be picking your brain though. Is there an area you’d recommend closer to Syracuse?
  11. Yea, Its just tough. I want that country setting, but also don't want to be 30 mins from nearest grocery store or what not. I've done the 30 mile drive to work for most of my life, it can get old, especially right now with gas prices. I would love to get around the copenhagen to rodman area would be ideal. Would only be a 20 minute drive to where I work right now. Also, open moving closer to syracuse, but hearing matt speak so negative about, I'm very eeeeee lol
  12. Lol, yea I got some more details on that place and not what im looking for in terms of the house. Though I believe I will be seeing a house right in between redfield and osceola next weekend. Right on a pond.
  13. Thanks for the breakdown. Reason I’m asking is cause I sold my house in lowville. Just need inspection on Monday to go fine and it’s a done deal. Trying to find something closer to 81 to cut down my drive to PA and we’ll be closer to a bigger area. I saw a nice house in the williamstown area it’s about 2.5 miles south of it going towards amboy. Was curious what that area was like snow wise.
  14. it's pretty bad the butt crack, thankfully I won't be doing this again next winter
  15. 2.7 we will call it. See if we get anything later on with upper level trough swinging through. 95.7" on the season.
  16. Yea models showed the butt crack formation well here in the valley
  17. Where are you at? I’m 3 miles east of lowville and I got about 2.5 so far.
  18. gfs would be nice, but I worry we are seeing what we have seen of late. Overdoing the cold push and making things a bit more progressive than what occurs in reality.
  19. not like the gfs or gefs. the eps are very transient with chill. couple cold days then back to normal or slightly abv, rinse/repeat.
