  1. Just got an alert from Dark Sky that possible light rain will be starting in 30 min. Not a downpour but I guess I will take that stuff pushing south out of PA. And as I type this just got a random crack of thunder.
  2. That cell to my North near Hagerstown is making me mad. It has gotten cloudy down here but that is all.
  3. My station is at 100. It is in full sun now. Hum 53 Dew 79. Feels like 122. I just want a normal summer. Sitting I. The house again with blinds fully closed to keep the AC from not over working.
  4. Went out at 9:30 tonight to water my front flower beds. They face East and did not want to get up at 5 am to do them.
  5. Yea saw those. Would like them over here.
  6. My station is still in full shade. Current readings are 91.6/69/77 showing heat index of 110. Was down in Warrenton almost all day yesterday at a horse show. While oppressive it was not like this at 11:30 in the morning.
  7. Getting some awesome thunder and lightning up here! Town house is shaking. Up to .74”.
  8. .45” in just under 20 min. Frequent thunder and lightning.
  9. No rain for me yet. But getting a lot of thunder.
  10. So somewhere I heard that the mandate that required developers to put in SWM ponds in new neighborhoods is no longer in effect? That is was done away with 10 years ago? My neighborhood started building in 2007 so just before the time frame doing away with said requirement. We have 5 SWM ponds on my side of the neighborhood alone. The East Side of our community, my community is split by Ballenger Creek Pike, has 4 and the new neighborhood behind that which only started building in 2016 has put in 3. They are amazingly effective. We are bordered by Ballenger Creek which has been prone to flooding. The 8+ inches we had on that deluge back on May 15th all the ponds were full but by morning because of the drainage they put into the bottoms all the water was gone and Ballenger Creek was only flooded from what was coming from upstream. I guess what I am asking is it true that the requirement to build SWM ponds was done away with? Because if so that is just as stupid as taking away the fee imposed on builders per dwellings for money towards schools.
  11. Downtown Frederick is historic as well. Hence why they went underground. The flood control tunnels start at Baker Park and then are diverted out of town. But yes do agree with you that even if work had been started it would have not have helped.
  12. Can they do what was done in Downtown Frederick? Along with the Carroll Creek Linear Park there are underground flood tunnels. Now yes Downtown still has flooding, remember just back a week and a half ago. But it was not to the extent of the bad flooding that had previously happened. Other areas had bad flooding, north end of town. But where the the flood tunnels are it fared quite well.
  13. Just started raining over here in Frederick. And just saw we got put under a Flash Flood Watch till 2 am
  14. Had that line of storms push through right at school dismissal. Got my girls at the bus stop and it was rivers of water rushing down the street with thunder cracking. Most kids had rain gear, some did not.
  15. I am just hoping we do not get a repeat tonight. Second night of dance recital rehearsal downtown at the Weinberg. The dressing rooms downstairs flooded last night forcing the dancers to gather up their costumes barefoot. And to make matters worse a leak opened up on the roof right over the stage resulting in the video below taken by one of the instructors. https://www.facebook.com/nicole.ruark/videos/1021639401234850 We are there almost till the end again tonight and I do not want to have to ever drive home in what we had last night ever again.
  16. My station just went over 5”. Looking like we will be under the gun all night over here.
  17. I will gladly give you some of what we got. It is bad over here. Really bad. Swift water rescues major highways shut down, 340W and 70E and 15S just north of Frederick. https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/maryland/swift-water-rescues-across-frederick-co-after-severe-flooding/65-552445714
  18. The line has finally shifted just to my South. Light rain now. Current reading is 4.90"
  19. There was a pretty intense hail core over me and when it moved East it intensified. So there certainly may have been larger than the quarter size I saw. All I can say is that the Weinberg Center for the Arts is the theater downtown with a very high ceiling. You could hear the hail on the roof it was that loud. And it was during a dance going on so the music was loud.
  20. If you want to see what is on going in Frederick Co. check out The Frederick Scanner on FB.
  21. I was in the Weinberg Center for the Arts when this hit. Could hear it on the roof. A leak opened up on the stage just as kids were dancing. Quarter sized hail out front.
  22. I just got home from downtown Frederick. My daughter had her first night of dance recital rehearsal. Major flooding on going in downtown Frederick. Stuck to the higher roads and still encountered flooding. Made it home all be it carefully, never want to drive through anything like that again. My back yard station is currently at 4.38" and it is still dumping. Thunder is non stop with CG lightning off and on.
