What exactly is a "trained spotter"? Is there a class? They probably think it's a dependable person using the correct method (snowboard) but for all we know it's a weenie...
Yep, I lived in those types of situations where the air merges between two structures and creates a hurricane like blast then the snow creates it's own pattern. Blacktop showing then not that far away a huge drift up the side of a building.
That sucks:(
The really cool part of that storm was I listened to KYW all day while coming in and going outside while Elliott Abrams kept upping the totals, it seemed like every hour or two. It was a cold/dry snow which added to the drifting. I think temps were in the mid teens or so....
All 3 were great but 83' was probably my best.
I was 1'-2' shorter during that whole period which made everything seem huge. Just walking during the height of those storms w/the drifts was a real struggle....
This is probably due to your age. I'll send you to my parents house w/the thermostat on 80, electric heater humming and electric blankets a must at all times.
Much complaints here, wanted highs in the teens/wind! Predicted highs are now up 8-10+ degrees from a couple days ago. Still cold but not super cold.
I thought Glenn should seek a retirement community when 11am Monday he said snow could still be falling till mid-day Wed. Welp, here we are and it is still snowing although not sticking to anything. But just the idea that it would last this long is kinda crazy...and it has.
Sleet, 33/rain or nothing? I'll take sleet even though I'll be pissed it's not snow and Monday temps will be winter tundra like for this area w/wind. At least it's not boring weather...
The whole point of groundhog day is for old folks to dress up, find a reason to drink in the morning and pull a rodent out of a tree. The result makes no difference. Even Punxsutawney Phil is sick of their song and dance and doesn't want to be disturbed...
Man, that sucks. From what I read online the mail method seems to take forever or they screw it up. Hopefully yours comes soon.
35F / stray flurries
Springtown, PA 31.2", highest I've seen so far. I'm sure there are more 30+ which I haven't seen...
Hasn't poked through here yet but very bright.
Being 34F and a very shallow cloud cover (w/snow melting), anything that falls today won't make a difference in totals....at least here.
What stimulus...the $600 dollar one from last year?
