  1. 32F/DP 22F Overcast My electric bill is going to suck this month even though I keep it at 60F (if at all?) People who keep it at 70F+ (My father ) must pay $100s/mth...
  2. No age but how... Poloncarz tweeted Monday afternoon:” Very sadly, the (county Health Department) Medical Examiner has confirmed another 2 deaths from the Blizzard. Total deaths are now 27. Of these: 3 were from an EMS Delay; 14 were found outside; 3 were from shoveling/blowing cardiac events; 4 were from no heat; & 3 were in a vehicle.”
  3. Out this way, that ice storm was the worse by far of any winter event, survived and made the best of it. Car battery died/car/house doors frozen, roads were a mess from the deep ruts of ice, completely shot my car suspension, seemed like I was chipping ice for weeks. All and all I'm happy I didn't get in a car accident. Once you got in a road/ice rut you couldn't turn. It was crazy. I'm wondering what the average age of the people who died in Buf? If you're old and no family around I kinda understand. But if you're younger w/o health issues you'll find a way to survive.
  4. My father has a pace maker and the device (electric) warned him when his heart rate was low. Bought him a UPS so it would back him up. I mean Buf, everyone should have a snowblower, generator and kerosene heater/fireplace. I think it's plan stupidity for the most part...
  5. A box of pasta, sauce, milk, call out from work/obligations and stay inside. Even w/o heat you would live inside. The shoveling thing cracks me up...no reason. It was/is so damn windy it would blow right back. If you are old, overweight/out of shape why are you shoveling? Screw it for now. They were saying even for Buf (who are use to this) this was nuts.
  6. The Buf deaths are nuts. People dead in cars, snow drifts and heart attacks shoveling. All could have been prevented...
  7. This is my look from my window to the West. Not a current photo but it's dark that way but I doubt we get squat outta this. It's shrinking and not even in our path moving NE.... 27F
  8. Got dark quick. 27F/ DP 14F State college radar...
  9. 27F/sunny/light wind, feels balmy. Walked to post office to check my PO Box, closed. Should have known.
  10. Merry Christmas all. Probably shouldn't have taken multiple Jeb walks the last several days. Ear lobes and finger tips are cracked...all good. The damn wind was killer.
  11. Man, that sucks. There is help out there. I live in North Wales, (North Penn district) and they will literally give out free food/sit down/free internet pretty much every day to anyone. It's a great resource. I mean it's really cool if you're stuck in a bind and need a little help or guidance to point you in the right direction. Not sure where your sister/neighbor lives but there is help out there but sometimes people are too lazy to look. https://mannaonmain.org/
  12. PJM (Grid Operator) sent me a text just now (first time ever) to conserve energy till 10am tomorrow. Hell, I'm probably the last guy on earth they should contact. My temp is set at 55-60F and turn it off completely sometimes for no apparent reason.I have a solar panel to generate juice for my laptop. What the hell is going on? At 57F inside/outside 11F. Birds lost and not in the mood for any shenanigans. Anyone else receive a text? https://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia/news/power-grid-operator-pjm-asks-residents-to-conserve-energy/
  13. 11F....really don't see anything super exciting in the near future. Hell, I'll take a C-2" event but looks like temps rise as the week progresses and no precip...upper 50s/60F next weekend? Ugghh. Birds winning though...
  14. Can't remember when I didn't make it to 15F for a daytime high. 13F high today. Any wee bit snow that tried to fall would stick immediately.. 12F
  15. Not horrible being in my early-mid 50s but all the ice patches worry me more. Easily could take a spill and break a hip/sprain ankle. Played a lot of sports when I was younger and sprained my ankle(s) a million times...recovery time sucked.
  16. It's a big single house apartment. Apt on the 1st and 2nd floor. I'm on the 2nd floor and probably get heat for the guy on the 1st. This house is from the 1800s, but man, it's solid and insulated. I could run full force(6-1"/210lb) into the wall and break my face and the wall wouldn't budge. Newer houses I would break right through. Basement is like a dungeon/war barrier//brick shit house and place you want to go if a tornado happens... 11F
  17. Took a mile or so walk to kill time before the Birds. Finger tips and earlobes are frozen...getting too old for this shit. 11F/Winds still gusty...
  18. Sign up at Planet Fitness w/showers for $10/month...been there, open 24/7 . Stuff from the Lakes floating down? 11F
  19. Literally I had electricity and turned off the heat for the hell of it during cold spells. I think the lowest it went was 46F in the house. It really doesn't get "that cold". Wear a flannel and cozy slippers. Put the food outside to keep cold. BBQ food. Go to the public library for free internet or park in a Wawa/Walmart/McDonalds parking lot. I may be screwed up but I take electricity going out/power outage as a challenge... Woohoo...up to 10F!
  20. 7F 1 mil w/o power...crappy way to spend Christmas Eve. https://www.accuweather.com/en/winter-weather/live-news/live-updates-blizzard-bomb-cyclone-creates-chaos-before-christmas/1430072
  21. That's impressive. 50F on the nose... Philly at 8F I'm at 5F
  22. Looks like there's stuff/clouds around that area. Allentown at 5F...
