  1. It also depends on positioning. Stronger would add resistance to gaining latitude.
  2. Not to jinx this, but I don't recall an instance where we truly got a major storm (12"+) out here and DC got next to zilch. As depicted, such a sharp cutoff seems not likely.
  3. The 50/50 affects the confluence above/ahead of the storm, so, yes.
  4. Someone earlier referenced needing a Jan 2000-like miracle......
  5. I had to go into the office, but neighbor back home reports that "huge chunks" of snow are falling.
  6. MECS at the lowest sun of the year. Perfect. Pray that it actually happens.
  7. Lol. That'd be top 3 snow storm off all time out here. The NAM is an embarrassment.
  8. Yes, but their soil is 5,000 ft further from the Earth's core, so it's cooler.
  9. It was amazing. I stayed outside most of the day, playing and shoveling, or just walking and sightseeing. The rates from late morning and early afternoon was astounding. I can still here the sound of the pouring flakes on my jacket as thunder rolled. Vis definitely under 200 yards, and it wasn't really windy. You could see the snow piling up. I remember it like it was yesterday.
  10. It did. There was a minor snow event a couple days later, as seems usual after a big storm, but it was warm and slushy. Mid Feb sun and warmth melted it all too quickly. Snow piles lasted a while though.
  11. Will my move NW payoff? I love that snow map!
  12. Beleive that was a stronger low, no? That storm still ranks the King in intensity out here. Temps in the low teens, thundersnow, and 32" in 16 hours. Almost 5" in an hour at the height of the storm. I'll never forget it. I hope this storm can be half what that one was.
  13. Snowflakes need to stay at least 6' from one another. Shouldn't be a problem.
  14. I know, that was the point of my post. It's one of the few ways we can outscore you guys to our east. Hoping for a good storm again one of these years that isn't a forum divider.
  15. And it beats the hell out of reading the reports of puking snow in DC/ Baltimore while we are staring at cloudy skies.
  16. What does half open mean? Need to know before I plan a trip up there. Don't want to drive up and you are closed.
  17. Yep, I figured that. You don't normally have snow then either!
