  1. Little Rock went from 52 and cloudy to 34 and snow in a couple hours. Temps fell from there. The snow started in the afternoon during the warmest sun of the day and it almost immediately started sticking. It even stuck to paved surfaces. Hopefully this will slow down the whole "snow won't stick" narrative that the local TV Mets went on about earlier this week. I will credit Todd Howell who apparently honked early that rates overcome.
  2. Saw another 4.5 inch and two more 4 inch reports from Little Rock.
  3. HRRR and RAP at 0z are a solid 6+ for virtually everyone from the Eastern Rim to the mountains. 3-4 across the mid-State.
  4. Tennessee rolling vs Miss State in the SEC T and a snow event inbound. True March Madness.
  5. The first front went by there about an hour and twenty minutes ago.
  6. I expect the whole state should be under a Winter Storm Warning at this point. Don't know if any NWS will pull the trigger though.
  7. I believe the Arctic front will push that out and storms will align SSW to NNE with it. The HRRR shows this.
  8. NM, I read the tweet wrong. They were launching it with heavy snow falling. The balloon didn't get heavy and fall. Little Rock NWS tried to send a weather balloon up but its snowing so hard the snow weighted it down and it came back. The snow was sticking on pavement and all there.
  9. At first I thought you meant a Chattanooga Snow Weenie.
  10. Pinebluff quickly transitioned to Thundersnow. Looked like the temp went from 52 to 34 there in about two hours.
  11. How impressive is this for any time of year, let alone Mid-March. I wouldn't even be shocked if the Winter Storm Warning moves West.
  12. First front is along the Plateau. Thundersleet reported in Pine Bluff Arkansas.
  13. Updated point forecast. Detailed Forecast Tonight Rain likely before midnight, then snow. Low around 21. Blustery, with a southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north 15 to 20 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. Saturday Snow likely, mainly before 9am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 22. Wind chill values between 4 and 9. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
  14. GFS dropped a foot on Hamilton County. That would be awesome. Credit my brother, his daughters started spring break today and they left for Orlando at noon.
  15. I'm hoping that you pull off 3-6 inches. Some models have a streak right over your area of heavy stuff the last several days.
  16. The nowcast/obs rule now. It overperforming in Arkansas during the day is a good sign. Its basically every model vs the NAM right now too it seems.
  17. Managed to hit 32. Should be able to stay there for a couple hours. Will warm up today, but every little bit of ground cooling can't hurt.
  18. The 09z RAP is great for the warned areas in Middle and East Tennessee and it also hits all of NE TN and SWVa with 5+.
  19. No backing down from the 06z GFS. It's about 2x the MRX snow map.
  20. This was on the MRX site in 2016. I remembered putting it in the historical winter thread so I could find it easily. Glad you found that new version.
  21. No, the criteria is generally always the same in each CWA. It's different in Georgia vs Chattanooga but usually the same for all of MRX's area.
