I'm moving back to GA in a few weeks due to some issues so this is just mother nature giving me a goodbye show.Looks like we will have a very active day the next 24 hours with high winds, severe storms, then a chance of snow tomorrow morning...- 2

Yeah there's lightning where the NAM/HRRR were advertising dry. Holding onto hope for now. Might as well ride the ship to the bottom.SREF avg up over 1” for KAVL. I think we will at least see a snow shower around WNC tomorrow am. System already looks stout on radar with ip being reported in ETX.
Came down off the mountain today and nice to see leaves on the trees. Just about ready for flower season.- 1

Yeah if this were December I'd be horribly disappointed with that amount of moisture but going into April any run within 60 hours showing snow is good to me.Yeah precip shield just needs to blossom a bit more, but 500mb low dips under the Apps and goes slightly negative tilt. Any more and it would pull the whole precip shield into WNC. Lots of interesting dynamics with this one, I think it’s going to be a nowcast(cliché).
Had a couple good snow showers earlier which was a nice way to close March.

12z 3km NAM looks gorgeous fellas.
Would prefer the LP a little closer to the coast but still throws moisture back our way. Maybe the NW trend will win again.

I'm just down the road in Vilas looking at sunshine ha. Here's hoping for a few flakes anyways.Fine flakes with moderate intensity in Zionville, NC at about 3500’ -
Well this is aging well.I'm good with it showing this for now. If we don't see a NW trend in April I'll be extremely surprised.- 1

Ten minutes into official spring and we just started mixing with snow. In foscoe currently.

45 and rain out here in Vilas. Definitely elevation dependent.
-
Worth noting I guess that we could/should see more flurries tonight into the first bit of tomorrow.

Yep just popping by to say the NAM is showing some NWF stuff. Not much but anything is better than nothing this late in the game.We may see some snow showers early in the morning on The 16th...- 1

Had a few house shakers here but oddly Boone is reporting calm. Really need to get an anemometer for the house.Just had sustained winds of 49 for over four minutes with a gust to 64. And it is absolutely pouring.- 1

Shoulda started this thread earlier. It's snowed more in the week since it was started than in the month prior.
-
That's OK, they canceled for green grass up here.Got about half an inch of snow up here in wolf. That apparently is enough to cancel school.- 2

Yep same thing here. Solid coating at the house and green grass half a mile down the road. When I left the house it was like a real light powdered sugar falling from the sky lol. A few hundred feet down from the gap and could barely see some snow on rooftops. Elevation is a good thing!

Down in Hampton, GA for the NASCAR race and the danged wedge followed me down here.
Go figure, right? LOL- 1

Just setting up for the great Bristol TN blizzard on NASCAR weekend in April.Teleconnections not looking like they will take a dive like March of last year. Chances for any significant snow looking grim but sure we will see a few more flakes before spring sets in. -
Mostly snow here at the moment. Ground covered nicely.

We're a ip/sn mix still. We've done "well" (i.e. More ice accretion than surrounding areas) the last two ice events but we're still above freezing and I doubt it goes down much more.Still snow here with a solid covering...maybe quarter to half inch. Won't be long till it's all rain. And my spot here does terrible in weaker CAD so likely just a cold rain once the snow ends. -
Mixed with a lot of sleet here in foscoe now. Still a solid coating on the cars/grass already. Currently 33.Yep...steady and increasing. Lots of dry air to overcome...which bodes well for longer duration before freezing rain...hopefully. -
Covering the cars here in banner elk pretty quick. I assume it's going up there now?Absolutely nothing yet on Beech at 4650. Had some sleet this morning in Dahlonega GA and then some snow mixed in with the heavier rain splattering on the windshield. -
Lots of thunder in those heavier bands. Could get interesting here in a bit if those dynamics hold up. My dad said it's 34 with thunder and lightning in Cleveland, GA. Currently 34 and steadily dropping IMBY.

Considering it never shows anything in SW NC and we already have reports of frozen stuff.....HRRR is basically asking why anyone thought this would be a big deal. Just like some brief snow showers and minimal ice.
Have to see how long that lasts though.- 1

Really hoping that delayed spring doesnt screw up the flowers again this year. It was a terrible photography season last spring with so much rain and so few blooms. Don't want to see that again for a long time.Delayed spring seems to be the new normal. This is the 3rd consecutive February with way above average temperatures and flowering trees/bulbs/etc. Only to be followed by a deadly freeze in March and April. And now the mountains look like they will get 4-7" of RAIN in the next 10 days or so. Incredible.

Got us some good flurry action here outside Boone. Can barely see grandfather from the porch through the flakes.
