  1. There is still a decent cluster that bring it North . Pro
  2. Here’s some video I took toward the beginning of it http:// . Pro
  3. My girlfriend got video of the fire starting when smoke started coming out. Saw whole trees go up in seconds and fall. Saw transformers blow. This is in New Cumberland. Fire trucks from 5-6 different stations are here I think. . Pro
  4. Capital City Airport (KCXY) & Harrisburg International Airport (KMDT) are only about 5.36 miles apart as a crow flies. KCXY is roughly 5.2 miles north and 1.3 miles west of KMDT. I bring this up due to the YTD rainfall of each. As of AUG 9th KCXY was at 34.98” and KMDT was at 40.72”. I thought that was a decent difference (5.74” & 16.4% > KCXY). I pull up 2017 rainfall for the same dates. KCXY was at 23.00” and KMDT was at 32.02”. Nothing like a 12.02” difference (52.3% > KCXY). Now that difference did close some through the rest of the year (see below). For curiosity sake I went through the last 15 years of data as shown below. Who knew that 5 miles could mean an extra 4”(11.1% >)(median) - 6.5”(17.6% >)(mean) of rain a year. My favorite is 2011, 73.73” vs 51.28”. Any Mets want to jump in with some reasons for this little microclimate quark? . Pro

  7. Haha, was it you Sunday who tempted the weather gods by saying the flash flood warning was a fail because it barely rained that day? . Pro
  8. What’s with this time of night and absolute monsoon rains. . Pro
  9. Looks like we are about to get slammed again . Pro
  10. We should get a nice break tomorrow morning and early afternoon; until the sun bakes up instability combined with a front to set things off again. . Pro
  11. Nothing like some sun to send the temp up to 84, make it feel like swamp, and quickly destabilize the atmosphere . Pro
  12. I’m about a mile from Capital City Airport (KCXY) and had 2.93” here. They had 2.75” and KMDT (only about 5 miles away) had 2.07”. . Pro
  13. HRRR 18 hr total accumulated precipitation . Pro
  14. KDMT reported 1.09” of rain and KCXY (Capital City Airport in New Cumberland reported 1.20”. Looking at the weather stations on Wunderground the area within the beltway on the East shore (see picture) got absolutely destroyed by these storms due to the constant redevelopment from convergence of boundaries & no steering currents. At 3 pm each airport reported a temp/dew/Heat Index of 94/75/105 & 93/75/103. After that time storms were blowing up about 30-40 miles to the SW, SE, NW, N, NE of us and the associated outflows from them all started to hit us. So I guess this is what can be expected when you have such a hot, moisture rich environment, with a bit of a trigger, no steering winds whatsoever, and multiple outflow bands converging over head. It was a fun hearing steady thunders for hours on end again. PS. I went up to Negly Park to watch Harrisburg fireworks tonight and the smoke ended up being a large issue in viewing them because it wouldn’t move or dissipate at all. No wind whatsoever to speak of. . Pro
