  1. Yeah, crazy here too. I can't touch your totals, but I'm up to almost 1.5 inches over the same time frame. Can you say, "Overperformer"? A harbinger for winter... Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  2. Made it down to 29.4 F this morning for the first official freeze IMBY. Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  3. 1.08 inches of rainfall overnight. Overperformer! A sign of things to come? Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  4. Here it is from Youtube. Pretty crazy weather. Awesome production quality, as always.
  5. Isn't that where all the cool people hang? [emoji16] Seriously, I'm staying with friends while I'm attending some work meetings at NCSU through Tuesday. Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  6. Wind really gusting here in Fuquay-Varina right now. Real deal coming later tonight. Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  7. Yes, lots of damage in Northlakes, just across Lake Hickory in Caldwell County. Power out for quarter of Catawba County. Friend in Northlakes has tree on house. Not sure if straight line or tornadic winds. I'm in Raleigh, so didn't get to witness any of it. Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  8. You mountain folk enjoy your snow a little differently than we do down here in the lowlands, it seems. We tend to walk, sled, build, and observe it, but we don't tend to do any of that sans clothing. [emoji16] Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  9. And here I thought storms produced snow. Maybe that's our problem: We have to have snow to produce storms. [emoji848][emoji16] Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  10. 40 F both yesterday morning and this morning here IMBY in Hickory, NC.
  11. Picked up 0.42 inch of rainfall since midnight. Very nice! Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  12. Just stupid silly amounts of rainfall here in Hickory, NC. I am measuring just shy of 4 inches of rainfall, and that's all fallen since 7:00 PM. Crazy! That's quite the overperforming system when compared to GSP's forecast of 0.75 to 1 inch of rainfall tonight. Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  13. Low of 48 F here this morning. Felt great! Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  14. That was an ugly, ugly game today. KB gets hurt, Cam doesn't look right, defense appears lost - especially the secondary. Yuck... Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  15. Big college football day in NC. Duke now at 4-0 following win at UNC, and NCSU takes it to FSU. Good way to start off the weekend. Now, if only the Panthers can take care of business against the Saints tomorrow... Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using Tapatalk
  16. Half an inch yesterday, and over an inch today. This little system overperformed the forecast. And...it's 53 F outside. 53! Sent from my Alcatel_6055U using Tapatalk
  17. Half an inch of rainfall so far this evening. Looks like more on the way. Sent from my Alcatel_6055U using Tapatalk
  18. Welcome, Bunny. (I'm moving this to banter.) jburns gave some good advice. I would also suggest just following the discussion on this site. Some very knowledgeable people post here. Just keep checking back for updates from time to time to see where things stand. It's still too far in the future to be able to nail down any specifics of landfall or impacts on any small region.
  19. Does anyone ever think the next set of model runs will be uninteresting? "No point in staying up for the 00Z suite: they're sure to be a major letdown providing no new information."
  20. Spent the weekend camping at Roan Mt State Park. Hiked Roan High Knob yesterday, and it was 48 F under sunny skies at the top at noon! Woke up to 51 F at the campground this morning. Heading to the VA Creeper area to camp next weekend. Longterm outlook looks cool again. Sent from my 6045O using Tapatalk
  21. That may be your biggest hope, but I'm pretty sure the people living on those islands would not see it the same way: "Please, please, Irma, plow right over the top of us so that by our sacrifice we might decrease the amount of suffering experienced by our very dear neighbors to the north."
  22. That may just be the most spectacular thing I have ever seen. Made a last minute move a few miles down the road to a large field to avoid cloud cover. Saw the 10 min before and 5 min after in perfectly clear sky with my family and prob another 200 people in that field. The diamond ring on the back side was beautiful! The temperature drop and darkness were incredible. I could see a sunset on opposite horizons. Wow! God is an amazing Creator. The sun is 400x larger than the moon, and yet it is also 400x farther away to allow a perfect eclipse experience from a viewer on Earth. That does not happen by random chance. 23. Skies clear here in Brevard. WxWatcher, cast yourself a line in the lake and maybe you can eat some sashimi. Sent from my 6045O using Tapatalk
  24. Arrived in Brevard a couple hours ago. Traffic was very light on my backroads, in addition to US 74 W, I 26 N and US 64 W. Sent from my 6045O using Tapatalk
  25. Heading to Brevard on Sunday to stay with some friends. Taking my whole family. Brevard gets only a minute of totality, but I really don't want to get out on the roads on Monday morning and get stuck somewhere I don't want to be. By the way, what's an eclispe? Is that a condition resulting from staring at the sun for too many hours?
