Winter 'Tis the Season Banter Thread 2018-2019
weathertree4u replied to Carvers Gap's topic in Tennessee Valley
Or when there is weather spoken of in a weather forum! I agree though, strange, been several years since we have had a good snow in Middle TN! -

Just do not honestly see how this has a good ending no matter how it plays out over the next week -

Something off the modeling this Winter or maybe it is just me or a little of both. -

Exactly! That is what I am concerned about. Personally moved from winter tracking a few days ago but knowing what I know about Spring in the TN Valley, we could be entering uncharted territory. For example, last Spring, the area just to the north of where I am got 5"- 6" of rain in a thunderstorm - May I believe - within a half hour, the large creek near me - Upper Station Camp, that flows into Old Hickory Lake - was out of its banks. Now, throw that same storm into the area this May and I honestly do not know what would happen! -

I thought that I saw someone posting in here yesterday that they saw a pattern change in the extended. I am not seeing it, am I looking in the wrong place? By end of the week, I would think the region would be uniquely positioned to be experiencing flooding, not sure we are to 2010 levels yet but we have got to be getting close. -

Ahh, that was the storm. We largely got missed by the big snow of that system. I can honestly say though, that was the only time I ever saw it snow in sheets for hours. I think we got three or four inches, nothing compared to you guys in East TN! -

Lots of fantasy maps this winter! Wish I had more time to jump in here, teaching two accounting courses online and working full time relegates me to mainly lurking now days! -
Hope that is wrong. Aren't we due for a dry pattern? Seems like we have had several wet years here!
-
Well, I am sure there are snow lovers in Seattle that are enjoying the pattern
-
Just out of curiosity and this may be posted in wrong place but was the snow in Seattle expected two weeks out?
-
Nearly everyone in here has way more knowledge than I but have hopeful outlook for the next few weeks. Every model run is not going be blockbuster
-
I don't think i said you did. I was making an observation.

So March is the new February, seems familiar lol

Latest gfs is of course different lol -
One heck sloppy mess

Me too, that was like a model run from the big ones of the 1960's now if the euru starts showing a similar thing, especially by and of week, well...not sure how long it has been since Nashville has had to plow streets but I can recall as a kid in the 1970s having huge piles in parking lots for days!
-
Like it, now will it hold for the next three dozen model runs?
-
Looks good. Will jump on bandwagon Thursday if still there
-
These types of winters that we have had so many of lately - at least it seems as though - are really what makes it so bad at least in the Nashville area when we do, and we will eventually one year, get snow. People forget how to drive in the snow and honestly, settle into the idea that it doesnt snow here - kind of leaning that way my self. I think we had the three or four cold days a couple of weeks ago and that has been it, almost a carbon copy as last year, both in the prediction and the outcomes! At least we have rain to track!
-
So if the 6Z run of the GFS is showing a storm next Friday, wonder what the GFS-FV3 will show lol

Wonder what floating away in February is indicative of?
