  1. Oh for sure. The mind remembers what it wants to.
  2. It’s definitely a first world problem... I don’t think any other country cares about lawns like Americans do. I remember a J1 visa student when I worked at Topnotch Resort ask why we waste so much land on grass and shouldn’t we have gardens instead of lawns? No sir, we are prosperous enough that where other cultures grow their food, we spend several hours out of our busy lives making sure these grass blades are all uniform in height and dark green in color .
  3. Ha it’s true... I also have these memories as a kid of apple picking in legit fall weather and I’m sure it’s selective memory but the past decade it seems like you have the A/C on in the car when you go to get cider donuts and apples .
  4. Yeah that definitely looks like Augusta National golf course, but try again next year. It sucks but out of our control. Hopefully we don’t develop a pattern but seems every summer there are drought concerns.
  5. It’s just a lawn. There will be other lawns in your life.
  6. It just seems early to go totally down on winter... as you well know, all you need is stuff to align for 4-6 weeks of fun and you can see a snow year of yore. January 2011 type month can make or break a winter.
  7. That might be a good thing. Tip can probably analyze why, but it’s always better to go in an underdog and win, then it is to go in a heavy favorite and lose. I feel like when those seasonal models look like an epic gangbusters winter, it’s only a recipe for disappointment.
  8. Ha, yeah I remember not even being able to walk around my house or take the dog out without those crampon/tracks you wear over your boots, same idea as chains over car tires. Just inches of clear ice as ground cover.
  9. That’s a lot of shift for only one decade added on those dates...
  10. 3,300ft, that landing is the top of the old Big Spruce Double chair that’s no longer there.
  11. Some serious southerly flow going on today... wind is just cranking up here. The dogs ears look like she’s got her head out of a moving car but she’s standing still, lol. Warm air advection in full swing. Has a vibe of like an impending cutter, with WAA and mid-level clouds streaming in.
  12. It does seem like a summer month more often than not. Be interesting to see the different averages if frosts/freezes are later or if that’s just imagined.
  13. Pretty crazy satellite of the fires in Cali...that’s when the lack of rain gets real in a hurry.
  14. I can't believe it was 96F two years ago down there, ha. Looks like BOS hit 97F on today's date in 2018 too. That's impressive.
  15. BDL's average high is 78F... it's 81F there. Like in January when the average high is 28F and its 31F, meh. They'll probably get another 3-4F today though. Two years ago in 2018 it was 96F today. That's a torch.
  16. Wasn't that wet cut-off in late June? That one that kept pinwheeling rain in cyclonic flow for like 3 days?
  17. It's ok, we try to tell him the definitions of chamber of commerce weather can change throughout the year... looks like it only took a week for a torch to go from 90F at BDL to 80F.
  18. The diurnal ranges out west are hard to fathom... was just clicking around, saw Steamboat Springs had a high of 89F yesterday and right now it’s 40/28 with a forecast high of 87F again today. Just massive near 50F temp swings...wake up chilly at 40F and then have upper 80s by 2pm.
  19. Not surprised. If it weren't for the 7" in June, this probably would be the driest summer in how many years? In Yore years.
  20. I absolutely lost it in Jan 2014. That was my melt down on here, we all have one. Philly was on like their 4th winter storm warning and my yard was like 3-4” of clear frozen water....just huge puddles flash frozen in place. Skiing was ice skating while everyone on here cheered about Leon bringing snow after snow south of the Pike. F*ck Leon lol. I’ve never seen anything like that... we’d go from brutal cold (snowstorm down south) to inches of rain, back to brutal cold (another snowstorm down south) then more inches of rain. Its hard to fathom a month that averages so cold, with so much precip, could render so little snowfall. There wasn’t even any upslope behind the rainers either. Just flash freeze and dry.
  21. Bodies wrapped in tie-dyed sheets with peace signs all over.
  22. There’s gotta be some catch. 200k for 2,000 square feet a mile from the base of the ski resort and it isn’t a complete dumpster fire on the inside...
  23. This weekend is out of control, lol. All restaurants have been completely sold out, people getting pissed they can’t eat out. Every parking lot full, cars parked on lawns, been like old times. Even parking along our driveway. Good for the economy.
  24. @cpickett79 here’s your spot... probably 180” annual in your front yard. And you don’t have to sleep in a camper.
  25. This has to be the busiest hiking day of the season, trails are just packed. Stowe Mtn Rescue responding to a leg fracture high on the mountain just below the summit ridge. They’ll have to take the patient down the steep Cliff Trail to the top of the Gondola, that’s going to create quite the traffic jam at the crux but hope the person is ok aside from the leg. Rough spot.
