I was staying in Asheville for the last eclipse and drove to Sylva, NC (short distance away) and traffic was crazy both in/out of the path of totality. Plan for busy roads day of if you’re driving that day.

Yeah but PD is starting to look like a rug pull and if the temp map posted earlier verifies there's freakish warmth to close out the month. Which kills the chance for the 24th.
Yes the region got a good bit of accumulation on the 2nd day of Spring in 2018 but how often does that happen?
That’s a 2 week OP temp map…it’s not worth even looking at. I don’t think anyone can confidently say what will happen the next few weeks. We’ve had plenty of snow in March in the last 10 years.

Also ordered my glasses yesterday! If I chicken out and don’t go anywhere I at least want to be able to stare at the sun for a bitYou need to go ‘chase’ and see the path of totality. It’s breathtaking and just amazing. It’s night/day (punny) compared to even 95% coverage.

So is it safe to say that this year being AN for the metros is off the table?
I would definitely not say that at all. I’m halfway to average and I could easily hit above normal with one storm.

My tulips just pushed through the mulch yesterday.
They’ll get spooked by our typical March of low 40s and raining.

Our crocuses have been in bloom for a week and a few Daffodils are ready to open their flowers. Yesterday was great weather to get some yard work done to get the flower beds ready for spring. I need the garden thread @mattie g!

Family and I are going to my in-laws in Saranac NY, just outside of Plattsburgh. Just bought 10 pairs of eclipse sunglasses.
Got our glasses a few days ago. I learned my lesson from last time when I waited too long and paid an arm and leg for them.

We got an AirBnB on the Canada side of Niagara Falls. I went to NC for the last full eclipse and it was so worth it. Can’t wait!

And many others only see the path to failure.
My wag is the GEFS will look better than 06z for PD weekend. Not sure why we are looking past that threat.

Aka don’t trust OP models beyond 3-4 days.

CAPE is like the LR thread therapist trying to talk reason in the sea of panic posts. That thread would be a disaster without him.
