Thanks Tim!! Was a little lax of late as I just got back yesterday PM from an England/Ireland Trip...a little cooler over there!! The actual departure from normal for me were actually a bit higher at + 13.0 / +13.4 and +9.9 respectively!

Rainfall amounts were pretty variable last night across Chester County. We saw as much as 2.35" at Nottingham and 2.17" at Atglen to as little as 0.17" at Devault. It’s much cooler today with temperatures in the low 70's. Across the higher spots of the County we may not see another 90-degree reading until the middle of July. Rain chances to ramp up a bit again tonight and again on Saturday night. We warm up to the upper 80's on Sunday before we see temperatures near normal in the mid 80's for much of the next week.

Those spots that reached 90 yesterday will see the current "heat wave" end at 4 days with today's temperatures remaining in the 70's. The one exception is our own personal heat island airport at KMQS Brandywine which saw 5 such days including the highest recorded temperature at 100.3 degrees on the 24th. No other station got within 3 degrees of that mark with the next closest being the West Chester MADIS station at 97.3. Of note 4 stations only saw 3 consecutive days exceeding 90 degrees those being Devault, Warwick Township, West Grove and East Nantmeal. For a couple of stations this was their 1st heat wave in at least several years. At West Grove this was their first such occurrence since 2018 and at East Nantmeal since 2020.

Detail on those other 2 relatively high elevation stations in Chester County where heat waves are so rare. West Grove with data back to 2009 has also only recorded 5 heatwaves - occurring in 2011 /2012 (2x) / 2013 and the last time back in 2018. Also over at Atgen with data back to 2012 - only 3 times in the last 13 summers have they recorded a heat wave - those being in 2013 /2023 and 2024. -

The NWS has the next 5 days here in East Nantmeal with forecast high temperatures over 90 degrees. I have been taking observations here for 22 summers since 2004. I have only experienced a "heat wave" (3 consecutive days of 90+ temps) but 5 times. 2006 / 2008 (2x) / 2010 and the last time in 2020. In each of those years we only saw 3 straight days with 90 plus readings. Other high elevation spots in the county including Atglen and West Grove has also seen very few defined "heat waves". This week sure looks likely to even in these higher spots result in at least 3 straight days of heat.

A pretty nice day on tap across the area before shower chances begin to increase late tonight. Of course, the weekend looks have some rain at times. Although, not a complete wash out with the best chances of rain late tonight through Sunday morning. Rain chances to lessen by Monday night but ramp up again by midweek. Does anyone remember those drought concerns?

There was a station that reported their first 90-degree day of the summer here in Chesco with a 91.4 at the KOQN Brandywine West Chester Airport - always about the hottest spot in the county. No other station reached 90 with the most popular number being 88 degrees at multiple stations. The coolest were at the relatively high elevation spots at East Nantmeal 85.1 and the 86.2 at West Grove. Tomorrow should be a good 5 to 7 degrees cooler with more clouds as we begin yet another unsettled and wet weekend.

Only by chilling the past for all stations can you make that trend line work! Man made climate change in action above! LOL!

We should see some nice weather today through much of Friday before yet another wet weekend. Although not a wash out rain chances will be around especially on Saturday. Once shower chances arrive they may stick around through at least next Tuesday. Temperature wise we should see highs near 80 today and up to the low to mid 80's both Thursday and Friday before we see highs drop back below normal for mid June through much of the next week. Looking ahead at this point we don't see any sustained heat or temps in the 90's across the area for the rest of June.

For a actual view of the real data see the below....can you see the UHI problem clearer now Charlie?

Funny how Charlie picks his starting point as 1970...I wonder why?? Oh wait I see it below - he starts with one of our coldest decades...cyclical climate change FTW!!

Today and Monday will be cooler than the last few days with temperatures remaining 6 to 8 degrees below normal for June. Highs on both days will be not too far from 70 degrees with some higher ridge locations staying in the upper 60's. Shower chances are around today through Tuesday morning before we clear out and warm up by Wednesday. By Wednesday temperatures should return to near normal with highs near 80 degrees with temps rising to the mid 80's by the end of the new work week.

All that matters is that if the season ended today they would once again be in the postseason! Once there they need some luck and to get hot just like all teams still alive come October. Do I think they can win the World Series? Of course.....Do I believe they will win the World Series?? As a long time Phillies phan - of course not - Go Phillies!!!
