  1. Through 1st 18 days of July this is the 11th warmest (75.1 avg. temp) start to July in Western Chesco with the top 5 being 78.3 (1988) / 76.7 (2012) / 76.6 (2013) / 76.5 (1994) / 76.1 (2006)
  2. The good news for those that hate the heat is that tomorrow on average is the warmest day of the year - at least in Western Chesco.....we then begin the slide to the coldest average day - which is January 21st - stay cool my friends!!
  3. Wow! you are deeper into the heat island than even KPHL.....stay cool my friend!! Still only 3 days over 90 in the Western burbs
  4. 4th official heat wave today at PHL - of course no heat waves yet this year in the Western burbs here and at KMQS and KPTW. We did record our 3rd 90+ day of the summer down in Sea Isle City today before the sea breeze kicked in...only made it to 88.0 so far on VP2 and 88.9 on Tempest in East Nantmeal - where we are still stuck on only 3 days over 90 and only 1 clean 90 this summer
  5. The battle was on along the South Jersey barrier islands today as the sea breeze was mainly from the south which keeps the marine influence within a few blocks of the beaches - the high here in Sea Isle City was in the AM which is almost always the case on the barrier islands at 85.0 at 1030am....most of the day we stayed between 79 and 81 with a steady SSE wind...inland in East Nantmeal we topped out at 85.4 with the high humidity
  6. These 1st 4 days of July (avg. temp 69.2) has been the 8th coolest 4 day holiday period since 1983 - the top 7 cooler than this year: 1) 2007 - 63.5 / 2) 1986 - 64.5 / 3) 1985 - 68.1 / 4) 2015 - 68.2 / 5) 2010 - 68.5 / 6) 2016 - 68.7 / 7) 2001 - 68.9
  7. Today was our 14th below normal day in the last 24 days and 3rd of 4 days so far here in July.
  8. Another new daily record max low this AM at 72.7 - breaking the old Western Chesco mark of 70 set in 2001
  9. Set a new record max low yesterday - besting the old mark set of 72.1 set in 2010. Should see our 1st clean 90 of the season today
  10. KPTW did hit 90 today along with every other reporting station with the exception of KMPO 88 / KMQS 87.8 / East Nantmeal 87.9 and my other 2 stations with 87.3 on the Tempest and 86.4 on the Ambient. Maybe tomorrow we see our 1st clean 90 of the year?
  11. Temp already up to 87.9 (99.9 H.I) in East Nantmeal while after a 9am high of 81.9 down the shore - the sea breezed kicked in and knocked temps down to the mid 70's - for sure it's the place to be
  12. Updated Philadelphia PA vs. Chester County PA 1894 to Present - all summer seasons and below that by decades with trend lines overlaid. The heat island impacts really began to widen the gap starting all the way back in the 1930's and of course that gap is accelerating during the most recent years Quote Average Chester County PA Snow at elevations over 660 FT ASL (1983-Present) = 36.3": Snow totals by season: 2020/21 snow (52.2") / 2019/20 snow (5.8" )/ 2018/19 snow (35.1" )/ 2017/18 snow (58.5") / 2016/17 snow (24.0")/ 2015/16 snow (40.8")/ 2014/15 snow = (55.3") /2013/14 snow (80.0") . Heat Island Tracker from 2015 thru 2021 the PHL airport has recorded 215 days at 90 degrees+ while KMQS, KPTW and East Nantmeal combined have seen only 139 such days / 2021 (90+) days to date KPHL (9) / KMQS (2)/ KPTW (2) and East Nantmeal (1) Check out my historical Western Chester County PA website at https://www.chescowx.com and follow me on twitter at https://twitter.com/ChescoWx
  13. Of course not close to a 90 here in the western burbs of philly with only a high of 83.9 here in East Nantmeal 84.2 on the Ambient station and 84.7 on the roof with the Tempest along with 86 at KMQS / 88 at at KPTW and just a wee bit above KMPO with their 83.....the soaring peaks of the Welsh Mountain doing it's magic today!!
  14. Sound a bit high....is your thermometer in the sun without a heat shield? Even the PHL heat island was only 91.....
  15. Of course May was 0.5 below normal....but agreed a rare event during our current warming phase of climate change....
  16. 10 of the last 14 days with today's forecast will have been below normal....
