  1. Some people talk about 100-degree heat like it's something that happens more than once or twice a decade outside of EWR
  2. Impressive synoptic rainfall for this time of year. It seems like the heavier rates are sliding to my SE with the fronto axis... the metro should really clean up.
  3. A lot of the biggest "free speech" proselytizers in my life have assumed the roles of covid talk police... really weird. You'd think the biggest gov't control conspiracy in world history would warrant many lifetimes of discourse.
  4. .12" here. Definitely scattered storm coverage... a few places cashed in but they were few and far-between. Soggy holiday weekends are always a bitter pill to swallow. Hopefully it rains like it means it if it's gonna be nasty.
  5. Slow-moving heavy storms just to my north while I enjoy a gentle shower. Ugh.
  6. It's absolutely sweltering. 88/71, the usual caveats apply with PWS dews but oof
  7. And watering will help prime the ground to better receive any rain that does fall. You can't lose!
  8. I just want to be done with the pollen. Impossible to keep a car or window pane clean. I'm not sure if it's still coming out of the trees, or just getting kicked up when someone three miles upwind decides to mow his lawn.
  9. It seems like the short-term models have backed off a bit on the instability and shear profiles for today's storm setup. MLLRs in particular have taken a hit. PWATs remain very high so any storm is an opportunity for torrential rainfall, which I'm finally ready to concede is needed.
  10. That's shocking. My sincere condolences to his family and all here who knew him
  11. The NHC has been naming subtropical systems for almost 20 years. I'm not sure of the exact rationale, but in theory, STCs can pose many of the same hazards as TCs.
  12. So 15 days ago, same as @Brian5671
  13. For deer, electric fences suffer the same limitation as any other fence in that unless they're minimum 7 feet high, they're as good as no fence at all. I use a little Havahart electrified system as a last defense against breaches in the chicken wire and deer netting. That's about where I draw the line though... before you know it you've built Fort Knox and spent 5 grand to grow $17 worth of tomatoes
  14. Always a bummer. Hopefully she can get a backup planted soon. First fireflies spotted tonight, made me smile to see.
  15. I've long used sanitizer or washed hands after pushing a shopping cart. Some things are just grody even without covid.
  16. What kind of fence? Rabbits can fit through surprisingly tiny gaps and let none of their meal go to waste
  17. Sunday 5/9: 36F Monday: 41 Tuesday: 36 Wednesday: 35 Thursday: 33 Friday: 36
  18. Pollen levels are biblical right now. It's like all the rain just made trees produce twice as much of the stuff.
  19. I sprinkled some extra cherry blossom petals in mine to keep the dry deficit going
  20. I swear that people have to swim to their computers so they can post about the dry conditions. It just won't quit raining.
  21. Being the day before Mother's Day, there are tons of outdoor crafts fairs and other vendor shows planned for the 8th. After we missed out on a year of sales from those types of events, it would be a real kick in the nads to lose the day to a nor'easter.
  22. 0.66" here. No wind to speak of yet. I'll be watching for any flakes tonight. NAM seems pretty bullish on that front.
