    It is to me, because looking at the 500mb pattern I could see why there is concern. I don’t like massive cold troughs kissing the Gulf of AK from British Colombia and have no where to go, but dig into the western US.

    Yes, we all did. But when a third of them suck...that is statistically significant. That's all I mean. That says to me, I see some concern.

    I’ll argue the block may be effing us. That thing has nowhere to go but almost into the Gulf of AK. It’s stuck between two ridge boobs.

    If that baroclinic zone was untapped, I think it would argue for something further west.

    The Davis Strait block needs to keep that piece of the PV north of us too. Some of those warmer solutions have it flying out to the northeast.

    Empirical Orthogonal Functions. Basically correlating members and group them I believe spatially. A very crude explanation. LOL.

    That's the model not me My concern given the confluence is a hugger...but I think forecasting it one way or the other isn't the best approach. Hopefully just offshore.
