  1. Another remarkable winter day all across the area. Snow bitter cold wind on top of deep snow from prior events weeks prior. Milky overcast with dim sunshine in some places that have stopped or are soon to stop snowing. Its only February 7th and I only need about ten inches of snow for the yearly average. Compared to recent winters that's almost hard to fathom.
  2. I definitely think Boston is in for some fun this afternoon
  3. The northern end of Coxes Ledge getting crushed!!
  4. Gentle light snow...coating... Been snowing since before 11 pm
  5. Love that whole album!! Made me laugh out loud as far as the wx is concerned.
  6. I was listening to that Bobby Brown record the other day. So much great music back then.
  7. Holy sea smoke in the background or is that blowing snow? I couldn't believe the obs yesterday and last night down south. Many places snowing and in the teens!! 20s only right on the water....wild!
  8. I think you might have to trim back that big area of flurries lol
  9. We did well regionwide last weekend. Maybe this one is for the outer cape and islands or just ACK. It all leads to why climo wise two biggies back2back are so rare.
  10. Im in my early 50s and have been taking notes and or keeping records since the mid 80s. I have only seen good snow growth with temps at or below ten degrees once and that was back in an event during Feb 1996. The first part of the storm began with a burst of heavy beautiful feathery dendrites but after a quick 4-5 inches it was back to poor snow growth until it was over and 8 inches lay otg.
  11. 15 here in the very southeast part of Springfield MA. I have it on good authority that just one or two miles away there is quite a bit more in Longmeadow but this is all I can report in good conscience. Very dense and kind of heavy to move despite readings in the single digits while it was falling. We had a good 3 inches already otg so otg totals combined briefly hit 18 inches or so. Amazing event just poor snow growth the duration....even what little fell Monday only had decent growth for a few minutes morning and evening
  12. So that's 100 percent impossible? So best we could hope for back here is a few inches but more likely a coating to an inch/ mood snow or just a cold winter day with lead grey overcast.
  13. They dealt with much bigger average depth and piles back in 2014-15 or is there more construction now over there?
  14. At least its something to watch...We have the perfect base for milder tepid SWFE....get a few fresh inches then put a nice crusty top on it and build that way but we're probably out of SWFE luck for a long time now
  15. No that produced well just south of the MA/CT border. I think BDL had 3-4 inches and just south at smaller airport 6-7 and I thought the whole Southington Bristol New Britian Waterbury zone was 6 to 9. The immediate shore crushed up to 20 inches
  16. I'm a little bummed about the snowgrowth Sunday and largely missing out on the fun stuff yesterday......BUT.....this was truly a remarkable event. The amount of geography that received one to two feet of snow is incredible. The antecedent airmass is one some folks may not see again before a big event. The amount of snow that fell into air temps at the surface from -5 to 10 above is unlike anything I have ever seen or heard of save reading about Feb 1899. This event will undoubtedly go down as historic for many reasons.
  17. Wish we could get some of that....that's what makes me not love this storm is missing the fun stuff at the end and only by a few miles
  18. Ok...Im right on the Springfield/Longmeadow line, the kid measured 14 out in the open in an unplowed section of road. There was three already otg before the storm started on many grassy surfaces...just seems a little high but Springfield is huge. We also had terrible snowgrowth and there's some serious meat in this arctic sand so I have no doubt believing we got 1.4 inches qpf.
