  1. Looks like we at least get a reprieve from the drought for a little bit. Temps beginning a bit AN. Edit...first few days look slightly BN for temps
  2. 0.75” for most Bob, is that the 10 day total?
  3. It’s been a couple of weeks since I looked at RadarScope
  4. That’s unfortunate. It is a much smaller industry in Mass than it used to be but that stinks for those farmers. edit. As per this (month old) article, production might actually be up this year by 1%. https://www.bizjournals.com/boston/news/2020/08/21/ma-drought-expected-to-leave-cranberry-growers.amp.html
  5. Just saw a movie in a theater. Popcorn. Snacks. Just my family and my brother in law’s family. Of course the movie itself is 40 years old
  6. Bowdoin is an excellent school. Beautiful campus. Good connections with Bates and Colby
  7. One thing I loved about the old MPM thread was people on here were very good at ferreting out the good data from the garbagio. It was to me the best source to get studies etc. ah well
  8. An example... and I know Maine has different phases, etc... in Massachusetts should indoor venues for concerts be open? I would love to see a show live but would not personally go. So...let's say a venue has 1000 people in it, somewhat distanced, but in there for 2 hours watching a band. Having fun... 5 people catch the 'vid... spread it to folks at work...who spread it to the grandma they need to help care for... I dunno... I just have a bit of a break during work and was thinking about stuff. Gotta get back to it.
  9. Media has been doing this since...well...media has existed. Caveat emptor and all the rest... I try to get into the studies/journals I can understand. And first hand accounts if possible.
  10. Not trying to promote an agenda. Not dismissing it as the flu either
  11. Yeah. As I just said to Jeff, I should have worded it differently. Not sure if any numbers have been determined for affects beyond 90 or so days after being diagnosed. But signs seem to be pointing to that happening for many. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/07/brain-fog-heart-damage-covid-19-s-lingering-problems-alarm-scientists
  12. Yeah... I probably should have worded it differently... I have not seen definitive percentages etc, but it appears that there are more people suffering effects of this for long periods of time than dying. Survival rate is of course very high for most age groups. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(20)30701-5/fulltext
  13. Much higher numbers of people with long term health issues after “recovering” from the ‘Vid though. Heart, lungs.
  14. I will be glad my bedroom ac is still installed.... the others are out though
  15. A couple of weeks old, but there is a theory (not a study) that mask wearing may act as a quasi-vaccine. Interesting https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20200909/could-your-mask-be-a-kind-of-vaccine-against-covid-19 Similar articles abound. original NEJM article. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2026913
  16. Excess mortality is a good measure. It’s a pretty heinous illness and has killed 200k people. To say those people would have died anyway would apply to any pandemic. This is up there with some of the worst we have encountered in the US. And that number is with social distancing, masks, stay at homes etc and modern medical care. https://hub.jhu.edu/2020/09/01/comorbidities-and-coronavirus-deaths-cdc/
  17. I’m sure there will be more but it seems to be somewhat rare at this point. Hopefully our immune systems can squash a second infection.
  18. There have only been two documented reinfections, maybe this is a third. Of the millions of infections, these reinfections don't even move the needle. Time will tell though, but I think we would have heard of more cases if it were a big problem. Yeah The two others were confirmed RE infections via genetic analysis or something.
