  1. Wow - this thread/threat went south (west?) in a hurry. Hadn't checked it since yesterday afternoon, when everyone was giddy. At work yesterday I heard multiple references from non-weather-weenies to the possibility of a big snowstorm next week, so people were definitely honking. At least we didn't waste too many days tracking it.
  2. We glop. It's been solid rain here since about noon. Plow just deposited a pile of slush at the bottom of my driveway.
  3. Comes with the territory, especially this time of year.
  4. I've been morbidly impressed with how consistently these solutions have placed PWM right on the cutoff line despite other fluctuations. This could be excruciating. Glad to see the mountains getting buried either way.
  5. Still on the razor's edge here. This could be one of those deals where you can see the gradient driving from one side of town to the other.
  6. Guessing my rain will be a tic colder. Quite a gradient on those maps.
  7. Similar here. Nice little surprise dusting.
  8. Any love for the coast? Still fighting early season climo with this type of system.
  9. Whiffs followed by rain. Ho-ho-ho
  10. I'd forgotten how fun this place is when SNE is progged to get snow. You white, we wait.
  11. First post of the 22-23 winter season for me... November is still one of my least favorite weather months on the NE coastal plain. Just looming darkness and boredom while places out west get buried. At least I got to see a few flakes this afternoon from the dying squalls.
  12. I just noticed that my wife added "beach walk" to our calendar for tomorrow. Hope we can find a parking spot.
  13. First car-windows-down day of the season, and I finally cleared the last of the sleet-glacier from my driveway. Life is good.
  14. Thanks! I do have to keep reminding myself that things out there are more forgiving than in New England, where a couple warm/damp days can really wreak havoc and take a while to recover from. This will be my boys' first time skiing out west (I was actually born in Bozeman and learned at Big Sky), and I've been prepping them for the higher elevation. As Mainers we're not accustomed to thinking about sunscreen this time of year....
  15. Heading out to Bozeman, MT on the 19th for a few days of skiing at Bridger and Big Sky, and I'm definitely getting concerned about the warmth and lack of snow. A week or two it looked like the pattern was going to shift, but now it appears that any cool-downs will be transient and any precipitation minimal. I'm committed either way, and am hoping it's not too much of a bust.
  16. About 0.75" of rain since yesterday afternoon, with temps hovering right around freezing. Virtually no melting, and things are extremely slick. My driveway needs some sun.
  17. Light rain, 36F. Amazing how quickly some of these airmasses have putrefied.
  18. Almost afraid to say this out-loud in here, but I'm hoping for a pattern shift since I'm heading out to MT on the 19th for skiing and snowmobiling with family. They've had quite a snow drought after a good start to the season, and the next 7-10 days look like a continuation of very mild and dry conditions out there. The saving grace in the Rockies is that they don't generally get wet Grinch storms that wipe everything out....
  19. About 3" of sleet with a dusting of snow on top. It's impossible to move; blew out the drive belt on my snow-blower. What a mess.
  20. The funny thing is that it may last longer than last Saturday's fluff bomb. Finally some sad little flakes mixing in....
  21. Not a single flake of snow here; sleet of varying intensity all day with surface temps in the low 20s. Maybe an inch of accumulation?
  22. And of course, the line almost perfectly bisects PWM. This could be one of those where I end up with virtually nothing and it's 6" by the time I get to Falmouth.
  23. That fluff that we got late Saturday settled very quickly, and there were bare spots due to the wind. Now it's getting annihilated by this swampy airmass.
  24. Agreed. When there's already cold air in place it seems like you can bank on 4-6 or 6-8 around here before it goes to drizzle. The ones that tend to be negative busts are situations where we're waiting for the cold air to arrive before the steady precip leaves. And of course it doesn't help that you're starting with relatively warm, wet surfaces - so sometimes it can take a little while before snow really starts to accumulate after changeover unless it's one of those rare flash-freeze scenarios.
