At least when we had to replace the well pump (again) last year the lines were still good but when it's 390 feet down and has to be done with a little portable machine because you can't get a truck into the yard it's pretty darned expensive.
So some mixed precip on Saturday and then again on Tuesday huh. Short autumn FTL.

Exactly, that’s why we have had how many big November snow storms in most of our life times? The Thanksgiving storm in the late 80s and the post sandy storm. Maybe above 1k NW of the city there have been a couple more. The fact that we have some cold air in play is a good sign.
Don't forget the day before T-giving 2014. I had a foot here.

Just my opinion, but I would be chilling on a boat or the beach all year than sitting inside with the heater on for six months. Then when it's nice here, you cant even find a spot at the beach without being surrounded by tourists. I don't mind the cold TOO much, (every once in awhile is nice, and a little snow makes everything look amazing for pictures)
There are plenty of beaches in the region where you wont be surrounded by others you just have to work for it a little bit although NJ is tougher than LI or RI. Cold is good, it keeps you humble and snow is necessary for a healthy psyche not to mention skiing and fat biking Don't get me wrong, the Lower Keys are high on our list for a landing spot when we move away from the NY Metro in a few years but the NH or ME coast are more likely but I won't be surprised if we find ourselves somewhere around Marathon or Big Pine Key. There's no part of FL that I would consider further north of there though, not even sort of...

When isn't it nice down there, other than the occasional tropical system? Which reminds me, family is coming up from there this weekend. Let the complaining begin!
When it's just plain uncomfortably humid for weeks on end.
Ooh boy pea soup fog and rain It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...

I really should have gotten that last mow of the season done yesterday and mulched up all the leaves, now it looks like it may be a while before it dries out enough to get that done. I'm so tired of rain... #bringbackthedrought

I'm just about 8 miles from where that Shrub Oak ob was taken and I got 2.6".

I saw 76 on the dashboard thermo in two spots this afternoon and 75 on a bank thermo. It was warm and muggy but damn it felt good
I've been out in the woods a little bit recently and it's really wet. Things are moldy and rotting, trees are falling over all over the place.

Nice day today. No torch but certainly a mild Halloween.
Yeah I finally got out for a ride after giving my buggered up hand a few months to recover and it was mid 60's through filtered sun and nice dry air. Most of the leaves are down, I know up by you it's pretty much stick season because I was up there yesterday.
If those mid month forecasts start to look more possible I guess I'm gonna have to break down and get those new tires I've been needing for a few months. My car is already sketchy when it's wet, white would be out of the question.

It’s been consistently windy for the last frw weeks and it looks like more on the way. We haven’t had many days of light winds and radiational cooling at night.
We have north of the city.

It has been well below normal for two weeks.
Similar pattern to Sept 17 Jan 18.
To say this month has been “warm” is glossing over a new situation.
We are having zero sum months or months with minor negative/positive departures that are characterized by two extreme air masses negating each other.
A new exterme in a decade of extremes.
There is also the sense that it's cool due to limited sunshine. It's been cloudy for so much of the daylight hours it's hard to get the sense that it's warm.

Hasn’t stopped raining all day here, the radar is deceiving today.
Yeah it rained/misted all day, stopped for a few hours then rained again for a few hours at night. It's still misting and really foggy keeping everything soaked and soggy.
This one wasn't about how much rain rather it was how many hours of steady, soaking precip and apparently coastal impacts were pretty significant.

Might have to head down and go for a bike ride.

Last 5 days of Oct. averaging 54degs., or 1deg. AN.
Month to date is +1.5[59.2]. Should end Oct. at +1.5[58.4].
All 8 days averaging 55degs., or about 2degs. AN.
It's 40* here, I'd guess it doesn't hit 50 even if the bulk of this storm clears through by mid afternoon.

I'd love to see a few shots that show next weekend. Thanks.

Yeah lotsa leaves down. I have a couple of good sized branches down but they were rotten and just needed a good breeze to bring them down anyway and it looks like ~.7" of rain so far.

I would watch the hours for 180-200 for a snowstorm even close to home I’d say up to Mahopac area.
I'll take it.

Storm still looking like a run of the mill Noreaster, its very weak I would not expect any winds over 50 mph anywhere even on the coast.
50 brings down big trees. When a couple hundred thousand people have no power you can tell them it was a run of the mill, weak storm.

People have got distorted views of October storms because of October 2011 lol. Thats like a one in multihundred year event. Just be glad we're getting to see a strong coastal right now- that bodes well for winter.
You keep forgetting October 2012. That was equally as bad here although I don't think the power was out for as long, maybe 3 days instead of 5+ but that was because we had lost so many big trees just a year before.

Uggh. I need to drive to Philly early Saturday morning and home Sunday evening then have a bunch of outdoor stuff planned for next week/weekend up here and further north. Yuck...

How far N or W is the freezing line?

I saw 30 around 3am.
Keeping an eye on the end of the month storm. I need to because I posted in that extreme storm for October thread that it would snow by Halloween

What an ugly drive home from Brattleboro VT yesterday evening. I should have sat down somewhere for a long dinner and waited for it to move through. I saw some snow up around Killington earlier in the day, the top of K and Pico are snowcapped already.
