  1. well I didn't have a surprise .25" of sn OTG this morning, went to start the wifes car to that, quite cold and windy still too, nice wintry feel, streamer has shifted south now
  2. catching the tail of that at my place, it was ripping on and off pretty much since about 10, I'm back at work next to BDL so nothing here.
  3. it's been the little freezing and snowing for a couple hours here in Winsted
  4. basically had a flash freeze here after a pleasant temp day, saw first flakes, just a couple randos, but has a good cold feel out there...on a side note, my anemometer intermittently has stopped working so I don't know what speed gusts are etc, sucks I can't afford another station.
  5. yeah the Mon/Tue looked like a decent sig 10 days ago also, hopefully we get one to stick inside of 72 hours with high confidence otherwise is model porn...and the southern lake Michigan shore amounts have come down a bit huh, I was seeing 12-18", and it's still impressive but over a foot would be a huge early season win for that area.
  6. climate breakdown? sounds like a great time to me, and granted a little early in the season, but climate breakdown??? i need explanation.
  7. bottomed out at 25 even, poor chickens, forgot to plug in the water heater, so they were pecking at ice..
  8. 25.3 coldest morning here so far, 10/27 was 26, we heavy frost...
  9. would be nice to have a good late fall early winter storm this year, we are so over due for a big winter, at least in SNE, I'll take some Currier and Ives in mid November though regardless, set the mood for the holidays
  10. was just about to ask everyone's opinion, it's been a sig for a few runs now, if anything it looks to be pretty cold, possibly a few inches elevation depending?
  11. pretty pedestrian event when the line came, a few gusts and heavy rain but now just constant rumbling of distant thunder, usually comes before the rain but now it's after, odd, also sirens here in Winsted for over an hour, something happened before the rain not sure what yet
  12. bout a half inch on deck, cars and grass areas... started to accumulate on the driveway and side of the road but it stopped and sun came out now we drip until tonight, however, the hills around me, about 1200+', have the trees caked, very picturesque.
  13. we coat, coming down good here, all SN too.
  14. snow mixing now with pingers and rain, lovely April Day out there...
  15. first day of baseball practice tomorrow and Tuesday, outta be fun for the boys, told em to dress like they were going sledding... I remember as a kid making contact on a cold day and the sting was real for a grip
  16. seriously, I have never liked or understood it, other than to disrupt people's circadian rhythm
  17. birds chirping, nice balmy 18 with light breeze...i seriously thought, hey it ain't too bad this morning, it's 18... imagine what 40s are going to feel like..
  18. that was also the last winter I recall having so much ice that just wouldn't melt because of the sustained basically climo cold and no torches, I lived in Waterbury then and we had a similar snow to ice storm, don't remember what date, but the driveway and walks were completely hit that winter
  19. that's pretty much what I'm at too...31.6, so I'll take 8.5 to get to about half of climo at this point.
  20. I think that's about what I need to get to 40, I have to check, but not a storm over 5" all season, what I'd give for a big dog and straight to warm... preaching to the choir I know
  21. if I had a buck for every week plus model storm that hasn't been in the last few years I'd be a little richer... I had a feeling this winter was going to be bad, but it ain't the bad that most of us like, at least it's felt like winter, and we still have something on the ground, for over a month now, that's impressive considering last few years
  22. This is something, was just talking to a couple of Winsted folk, and the town (and most others in CT) are out of salt, the state has been delivering to them limited amounts. No ice melt to be found anywhere for a few days anyway, and our driveway is still locked in ice, even direct sunlight areas... I love winter and weather it brings, but I'm about done at this point, never thought I'd say that in Feb... guess I'm getting old.
  23. man it's a different kind of cold out there, not sure if it's the insane amount of ice, wind, but temps ain't crazy cold, just feels worse. my driveway is literally a skating rink of about 2" solid in shaded areas, I was out for hours chopping yesterday, coop door is hit, frost heaves damn near moved the whole thing. hoping for something substantial, but this ice gots to go first...we leave 3/1 for Tampa spring training, and watch, that'll be when it happens.
