This isn't from the blizzard of 78 is it? That looks like a 1990s Volkswagen Passat.

That's from Snowmageddon in St Johns but that what I saw when I looked out the front door in 78, could just see the top of my car.

Wow, I'm surprised no one has mentioned staying in southern Quebec or the Eastern Townships for this event. I've checked and hotel availability seems a lot better there than NNE. Sherbrooke, Quebec is my pick for this event. But Magog and other towns also seemed to have good hotel availability without the inflated prices I'm seeing here. The one exception may be Niagara Falls, ON. Rates were high over there.

Thought never crossed my mind but nor that you mention it, its a good idea. I also checked New Hampshire, according to reports, a lot more people are going to Vermont than New Hampshire so I did look into that. Northern Maine is also an option.

Are folks waiting on a big dawg ?

I mean a light to perhaps moderate event for Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York City… it’s already interesting - to me anyway.

It just seems like people aren’t interested unless it’s maximum dosage. Ha ha.seriously though.

I'll take another 2-4 incher but always looking for a big dog.

Eew why? 20s is perfect. Give me 18-28 and a few inches of upslope every day and I’m all set

I like to experience extreme cold, twice I've been up there when it was -30 or better.

Real lakes and ponds have ice in Maine, Stick to NY climo.

We had about an inch on some of the bigger ponds/lakes last cold snap but thats gone, looks like maybe in the next week can start to get some decent ice.

Not what some on the Board want to hear but that warmup way out there in guidance keeps moderating and then cold does reload but this time the core is closer to us in Eastern Canada. Not a frigid look but could work for many. Folks expecting weeks of 2m temps below freezing in coastal SNE have unrealistic expectations of their climo imo.

Yeah, noticed the cold doesn't come down through the plains but slides east to eastern Canada, we can hopefully tap into that.

I mean maybe he wastes a tenth of QPF on ip/zr? It’s nbd. He’ll get a few inches and crust it up a bit. It’s mostly crap qpf anyway under the mid level dryslot.

I'll take 3-5 inches with a little crust on top, better than nothing at this point and just hope for a big one to show up in the next 2-3 weeks.

  8. Looking at the streetlight during the squall reminded me of when I was a kid and kept looking out my front window under the streetlight during 1978, it was like a great squall for hours and hours, snow falling sideways, I'd love to get another 78 one more time while I'm alive.
