  1. Cross posting this here because those s new englanders dont care they are so angry about this winter

Someone simply said March 13 and I was instantly reminded.   Until 2/14/2007 this was the most amazing storm.  And they do compare, 3/13 happened soooo fast.  WE only got 12 hours of snow but it was a fast 2 feet in Stowe.  Valentines day delivered 38 and there were greater snowfall rates but it was over 2 days,  the superstorm was 2 inches an hour for 12 hours.

Pretty sure 3/13/93 hit me like a ton of bricks. Most amazing things about that storm.  A. Noaa weather radio said 3 to 4 ft for N VT.  Never heard anything like it.   B.  It delivered in 3 in/hr.  I lived on "maple st"  Aka north main st in stowe.  I took my subaru to the union bank and someone was pulled over out front of the ackley memorial building getting tested for a dui in blizzard conditions.  Totally unfair and he should have won his court case.  I parked in union bank and hear the loudest thunder, nearly shit my pants.  I think it was my second thundersnow after blizzard of 83 in Philly.  Went to the mt road market a store i miss to this day, and got a case of stovepipe porter, which I just saw last week for the first time since then.  Most of my friends then worked in restaurants and  lived outside of stowe so they all came to my place and we had a blizzard party.  WE skied down maple st aka rt 100 in 1 ft of unplowed snow because they just coulndt keep up.  We got 2 ft in 12 hours and it was gone.  My boss at the depot st malt shoppe called me and said we are opening because no one else is and I was still drunk and had to walk to work after digging out my car so the plow could clear the driveway.  Because we were one of the only places open we had the busiest day ever and I was so hungover/drunk I wanted to kill myself.  Fuck you Kneale family that owns harrisons now!!  :)  Weather sucks so I thought I'd interject a story of snow

Net positive? To what? Build on your mud pack? That is a term used when you have a solid base...I'm sitting on about 3' of fossilized model delusions, but sure as hell nothing to "gain" from. I want a big event...save your 3" of slush....."F" that shit. Rather torch...

I agree, if Im not sitting in feet of snow I am enjoying not paying 6 bucks a gallon for heating oil (x275). My only saving grace

LOL, I live for it, but sometimes I think I'm nuts on what I spend, they go hand in hand, A love of winter weather since I was a  little kid before I sledded and then an absolute love for sleds and modifying them, my father lived in Caribou since 1993 and recently moved to Presque Isle, been sledding up there a long time.

I cant really ski anymore after breaking my leg in multiple places playing hockey, with all the plates and screws I can barely walk these days, let alone skate/ski.  I need to get a snow machine to enjoy the snow now outside of snowshoeing.  Im gonna be hitting you up for advice Mreaves/fx583!! Id just as soon buy new to help avoid headaches.

I'm supposed to head to Presque Isle on the 14th, first trip on New Year's eve got shit canned due to lack of snow, If I miss this one it's another 4 week wait till trip #3, then I have 2 in March. Like most, I have way to much money in this 32 year hobby than I care to admit to my wife or anyone else. I'm praying for snow in northern Maine.

Well cant more north than that, shows dedication.  I've always wanted a snow machine but heard they are just a nightmare.  35 years in VT and I have still never rode one.

Hopefully I can finally get an event where my latitude helps...ever since I moved here all it has done is bone me.

I know you know this, but i was there  from 2000-2003 and it was the epicenter.  North and west of 495 will come again and Methuen will be golden egg synoptically.  Sooo much snow!!  More than I see in VT outside of Valentines day 2007 completely ignoring the nickel and dime.

Yeah been a snowy vibe evening. We’ve got a standing wave going this evening with steadier snows down into town than at the mountain, oddly enough.

Driving through the galaxy big flakes this evening.

Mountain has gained about 4” of dense upslope last day or so.

Yeah I’m hoping this system will at least be decent for NNE because the situation is going to be pretty dire there if they eat a 3 inch rainstorm. As bad as it’s been down here, it’s been sneaky horrific in NNE since about Xmas.

Im mean 12z euro has us with "some" snow too which is positive

This is an "interactive" webinar with Robert Haynes and the new Lead Met at BTV Rodney Chai.  There is a repeat of this but it is  live Session #2 will be held Tuesday, January 10th from 7 PM to 8 PM EST.  I attended today. It was interesting but not mind blowing.  But in the question field they allow you to make comments and not just ask questions you can make comments.   Im pretty sure it's Rodney that made the new graphics that were awesome for the effects of the wind storm and another storm with elevation that were so positively recieved. He came from BOS and is now lead at BTV and is really young!!  New guy knows his shit.  Hes young to be Lead Met.  Anyone interested in BTV future should attend and use the question thing to ask questions not related to this storm because he will be happy to answer them.  He truly loves the weather and will answer anything .

He’s obnoxious because it appears he actually has some weather knowledge, but only lives for the trolling high of the response…and isn’t humorous or enjoyable like some others.

    .

Pf brought them here unintentionally by challenging them with facts. Every post is apparently now trolling the whole winter because of something one poster said.  Thankfully we can all stand it because we dont live or die by every inch of snow like our se new england friends.  We get snow even when no one else does. Sure it's been bad for us too, but we will get ours. Trolls like qq, only want to get qq from us which if you know what qq means is hilarious.  Sorry, qq, nobody is qq'ing. 99% of the people in this thread do love snow, but wont be as butthurt as your obsession is, so keep trying.

My FB "memories" feed has been torturing me with snow pictures.   LOL

It's all we have at this point, last time it was this bad was 2007, then Valentines day happened, hopeful for that analog.  That winter was so bad, had a decent storm in late Jan but nothing else until 2/14, then it snowed like every day for 2 months deep into april

We had 8 people sitting around the woodstove all night and it was frankly nicer than a regular old christmas but I really wanted to cook today so Im glad it came back and this folks sacrificing Christmas with their families is jsut unreal.  That being said I'd probably work it to for that bonus bucks they better be getting!

  13. Lost power at 830am so many trees down on Gregg hill rd, so much rain but of course my weather station is down.  Still no power and Verizon sucks I had better luck with Google fi go figure.  I am typing from my wifes hot spot who still has fi.  Man is it snowing hard, eyeballing 3 inches so far since the changeover.  Pleasant surprise as I expected a slight whitening but it is heavenly out there stuck to every tree with no more wind.  That wind was nuts and lived up to the hype.  I won’t have power for few days.  Had to go to Stowe because of course all my servers were down, couldn’t get out the n part of my road so had to go out south end and there were so many trees down on 100, 2of which were still resting on power lines across route 100 I had to drive under that and was a bit freaked out
