33..8 Driveway and street are now dusted over. NWS/local Met’s forecast was a bust for Mooresville. HRRR location of the snow flow for this area nailed it.

Heaviest snowfall of the evening now. Quarter sized flakes creating a nice white coat over the lawn. Radar upstream seems to indicate that this will continue for another two to three hours. It’s beautiful out there. I’ll say it again, HRRR nailed this I-85 firehose.

And now dime sized flakes inflated to quarter sized flakes are falling and the deck is getting a nice coat. Looking at radar, there is a river of snow flowing my way up the I-85 corridor. Congrats to the HRRR for nailing the location of that stream of snow from 12 hours out.

Temp is only 34.2 at my house but I have a dusting on car and grass tops as dime sized flakes continue to fall.

It appears the HRR was dead-on with that snow band strip along I-85. Accumulations probably won’t verify but it nailed its location 12 or so hours out.

It’s now mostly snow in Mooresville. Nickel to quarter size flakes. 35.4 degrees

Big fat flakes starting to make up 60 percent of the precipitation falling at the moment. Edit to say it’s now 70/30 snow to rain

Looking like Reidsville and north are going to be under heavy returns for a good while.

Now I see a dry slot has developed from the state line above Roaring Gap down to Hickory. Hopefully that takes its time expanding.

Big flakes now. Coming down at a decent rate. Currently the moisture in Mooresville is coming from the north. Looking at radar out of Greenville it looks like it will end in the next hour or so. However if you switch to Roanoke or Raleigh you can see there is much more moisture upstream flowing this way. Therefore I’m assuming this will end in my area, not from north to south but west to east when this backend stuff starts to move toward the coast.

Flakes just arrived at my place about mile and a half east of downtown Mooresville.

Woke up at 7:15 to moderate to almost heavy snow and hasn't let up since. Temperature has been at 33 the whole time but have still managed to add an inch to yesterday's snow. If temp was a couple degrees colder then it would be 2" easily.

We might get some freezing rain at the very end of the storm but I'm thinking we are good until then. Temperature has dropped from 30.5 to 29.3 in the last couple hours and looking at radar it looks as if we have a couple more hours of sleet. That heavy band has moved out and back to light sleet now at my place.

Just pouring right now! quarter sized flakes with chunks of ice the size of marbles!

Woke up at 7:30. To light sleet. Now under a very heavy band. 75/25 snow/sleet. Huge flakes with the sleet pouring down. This is the heaviest snowfall/sleetfall of the storm!

Started snowing here about 1AM. Lasted about 30 - 45 minutes and switched to sleet/freezing rain. Dusting on the ground and 34.5 degrees when I hit the sack at 2PM. Got up at 7:30 and a good 2-3 inches of snow on the ground. No way to tell how much of the snow got beaten down by sleet & freezing rain. Currently 30.2 degrees and a good amount of sleet falling from the sky.

Now snow has switched to all sleet. SnowDeac was right.

Nah, transition line always stops between I-85 and Hwy 73

In my opinion, Its really going to have to snow heavily for 10 to 12 hours in order to get the accumulations that have been shown on the models and the local weather bureau's snow maps due to the warm surface temperatures. And as I type this the temperature has now fallen 3 degrees to 34.5 since the first snow flakes started falling 45 minutes ago.

Losing a lot of accumulation potential with the surface temp at 37.5 at the start and only down to 35.1 30 minutes later with moderate to almost heavy snowfall

Temperature has dropped 2 degrees since snow began. 37.5 to 35.5 in 25 minutes
