  1. I believe officially it’s every hour
  2. Was wondering if I’d come home to any on the ground later. The other day my 1/4” was gone outside of one spot by the time I got home. I need a way to keep track of events better, especially when I’m not home for most of them, would like to know my total for the year is currently. I’m guessing 12-15” after today’s accumulation, I basically go with @Met1985’s numbers and am usually close. He’s got a couple inches on me this year from the January storm, so basically whatever he has minus 2-3” is what I’m going with as of now, the smaller events tend to even out as it’s so dependent on which ridgeline you are on and elevation in our area of Haywood that one event he’ll have a little more and another I’ll have a little more.
  3. Just got to town, rates wanting to pick up so maybe I pulled it along with me lol
  4. If what was falling from Flat Rock to Columbus can pivot through then it will awesomE mood flakes for sure. Working around Spindale today and tomorrow so I’m a part of you foothill guys during the day at leafst.
  5. Started ripping as soon as I hit the state line on 25 coming up from the Upstate but struggling to stick down this way like you said
  6. Foothills born and raised, I will help carry the fight!
  7. I think 2” will be a major win but we’ll see. I still have a hunch we get a March special this year, teleconnections seem to want to line up for it that first to second week last I saw.
  8. We’ll drink good bourbon on our mountaintops while looking down on you elevation starved peasants. Anyway, Go Pack. My favorite times at State were always centered around weather in some capacity it seems so my hate is in good jest.
  9. I for one can’t wait for a future storm and Raleigh to get cold rain while 77 west is a paste bomb with a foot place all over
  10. You want a positive orientation, I.e. the orientation of hwy 64 between Morganton and Lenior. Basically funnel that moisture up to usz
  11. Frankly it’s bordering absurd the amount of time between 6”+ synoptic events for all of the mountains. Let alone for anyone west of 77. I don’t think a non-flow warning level event, let alone a 2-4” one, region wide once a year in all counties with an average elevation above 1-2k feet is a thing of the past but this cycle we are stuck in is getting ridiculous ha.
  12. We’re way past due for a March paste bomb
  13. 1/4” here, flurries to light snow falling with hardly any clouds around. Can see the sun hitting the mountain across from me actually.
  14. We really dodged a bullet here, looks like a 1/10”- 1/8” of ice on the trees.
  15. Bit of a glaze at my house, porch and stairs slick as snot. Hopefully no issues today while I work between Morganton and Lenior
  16. The good thing about this warm up has been a thawed ground allowing me to remove fence posts easily and hopefully an electric bill that my pocket book will thank me for lol. In other news, hopefully the CO mountains can replenish the snowpack between now and when I get there the 22nd!
  17. Saw a couple flurries when I left thr house at 6 am
  18. Jealous @NavarreDon! My buddy and his family in the Pensacola area was having a blast yesterday.
  19. Balmy 1 degree when I left my house earlier, think we drop that final degree in the next 45 minutes to hit zero. Edit: It did not drop one degree haha
  20. Well since the Gulf Coast has topped and just about doubled any single storm total I’ve had the past 3 years, I think it’s only fair for a mountain and foothill crusher between now and April. Just incredible weather day down there and overnight now for our coastal fellows.
  21. 3” at my place, 1” at best in Crabtree Valley. Iron duff area with 3”+. East Canton had virtually nothing and then Candler had an inch plus. Crazy to see the difference driving, really shows you the hit or miss nature of flow snow
  22. Just got back from Max Patch, awesome sunset! Flakes flying while there. Just a gorgeous winter day post storm. I’d say what, 6-8” depending on where you were up on that end of the county @Met1985? Also, was that Nissan Frontier off the road when you were there earlier today? No clue how they’ll pull that one up and back onto the road with out something with a bucket.
  23. Yea as always, get under a good band with good flake size and that’s the ticket. We just didn’t have majority of fat flakes for any consistent amount of time for it to rack up from what I saw last night. You’d post it’s pouring fat flakes at your spot, I’d look out and it would be snowing good but dime sized at best before slacking off or going back to pixie dust almost. Give me moderate snow with nickels and quarters falling vs heavy rates with only pea size crystals. Hence why based on my experience I always harp and worry about moisture in the dendrite growth region vs thermals. One of these days this end of the county will get a 1936 blizzard again lol. Heading to Max Patch here shortly if I can talk the gf into getting out of the house.
  24. Nice pics everyone! Starting to think I’m too close to the Buncombe County snow hole since the county like is only 2-300 yards away haha! Quick walk around the property earlier found 2” in last nights tire tracks and sheltered spots with 3”. So unofficially I think we ended up around 4” snow plus whatever sleet fell for the storm total. 2-3” is what’s on the ground and deck right now with pixie dust light snow falling all morning. Guess the better stuff stayed south of me last night since Met measured 6.5” and my buddies in waynesville and Clyde said 6” for them too. I’ve been having a sneaking suspicion lately that even at my elevation I get downsloped by Crabtree and Sandy Mush Balda since they are 1500’ higher.
  25. No clue what we ended up with. I measured 2” before I went to bed last night with snow still falling. Everything wind whipped today so maybe I’ll find a sheltered spot to measure. I’d guess we hit the 3” storm total mark after factoring in sleet knocking down and compacting a little things before I got home last night.
