Snow has stopped, may move back south tonight into the morning but it will be light and forecast to be less than an inch. More shoveling on my lunch break, measured 10” in a more sheltered place (lower rot ground and blocked by the planter) and 11” on the picnic table, going with 11” for my unofficial measurement. For clarification, this is in Billings and not our beautiful NC mountains. Miss my NC brethren!

Measured 9” before I started shoveling (gonna have to get used to that, I ever buy a house and am not renting I’ll have a snow blower, at least it was a good workout ha!). Double digits is a given, but do we squeak out enough to hit a foot. Another overperformer, forecast was 5-10” for the warning area and 8” point and click forecast here in downtown where I am.

Obligatory “looking out the window to gauge accumulation” picture, first one while in Montana. Still snowing, supposed to taper off by noon. Will my first official storm here (was back east for the Thanksgiving one) give me the foot-plus I’ve been chasing for like a decade? Still coming down good currently.

You guys are having a great start to the season, guess I had to up and move to make it happen haha! Second storm of the season here in Billings starts tonight, overrunning situation calling for 5-10” and temps in the teens after the front comes through this afternoon. Warms back up again early next week (a repeat of this past weekend and this week, albeit colder and more snow this weekend instead of a light snow like last Friday and Saturday.) W and NW slopes down in the Beartooths have 1-2 feet this weekend if not more.

About to head back to Montana and we finally had our first snow in Billings, overperformer and ended up with 8” or so when they were calling for 4-5”. Been nice to have some cold these past few days here in the foothills at my parents, prepping me for heading back to the first cold snap of the year out there!

Neighbors measured 5 1/2”. Finally got to see the Northern Lights, one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen.

Nice fellas! No update from my tenants yet.

Love it for you guys! Colder there than here in NE Wyoming, but I tagged out yesterday morning with a great buck with fresh snow on the ground. Hopefully get a measurement from my renters so I can contribute snow totals still.

Reel it in fellas! Hunting out here in the Black Hills of WY, had 2-3” up above 5000’ feet this morning while hunting. Felt like like a flow snow event with the wind! Above 6000’ was in the clouds and getting it good, probably 6” up there.

First snow in town today, unexpected. Flurries turned to decent little snow shower this morning, no Accumulation though. Raw, cold, windy day that didn’t break 40. Think it’s the first time I’ve been colder than you guys which shows just how amazing the weather has been for you guys this Fall temp wise!

Pics from my Sunday snow chase. 3-4” around 7000’ in the Beartooths south of Red Lodge. Wet snow in town there around 5000’ with not much stickage when I left. More mountain snow likely this weekend with another system rolling in, active pattern we seem to be entering out here.

Well we’ve had our first real Fall day and it’s been low 50’s, raining and raw. First widespread mountain snow, foothills down 5-6000’ might even get an inch or two tonight through Monday. Here in town we will struggle to hit 50 tomorrow and are headed for the first frost, possible freeze for the season Monday morning. Think I’ll go on a snow chase an hour south tomorrow into the Beartooths, brand new tires need to be christened.

I feel like it’s going to be a short Fall for me here. 80’s this weekend and start of the week to 60’s by the end. Of course I’m jonesing for the cooler weather but every long time Montanan is trying to soak up the warmth as much as possible lol. The feeling around town is a normal Winter is coming vs what’s happened the past few years.

Been jealous of the weather back home but finally feeling like fall out here in Billings the last few days, low 40’s this morning and can see my breath, feels great! Back to the 80’s for another week though, guess I should enjoy the sun and nice weather while I can! How’s the color progression coming along?

Jealous of the weather back home!

Felt great Sunday and Monday while I was back in the mountains, yall have had some amazing weather since I left haha! We finally get a taste of Fall out here today through Sunday. Low to mid 40’s here in town the next two nights, highs around 70. Then the average to above average temps into the low to mid 80’s return. 50’s in the mornings with no humidity is great though for average!

No complaints, arrived Friday night. Been feeling amazing walking the dog in the mornings and I can walk to and from downtown which is a major change from living out in Upper Crabtree. Still lots to explore because it’s been something like 15 years since I’ve been out here, looking forward to the fast approaching Fall and shall see what winter holds. Weather station is up and running as of today. -

Next time you do the Beartooth’s you’ll only be 2 hours away from me! Felt amazing last night rolling into Billings with no humidity and low 60’s. Walked to downtown and back and didn’t sweat, I could get use to this lol. -

Well the rain break was nice while it lasted (even though that map above says it’s been slightly below normal here but I can tell you it has not lol), heavy rain ever since I got home and probably even before that. In other news, I’ve accepted a position in Billings, Montana so I will no longer be a resident mountain member for the time being come August but as of now planning to keep my house here and hopefully rent it out so I’ve got some place to come back to in the future. -

Woke up to it pouring rain under only one spec of a green radar return parked over the mountain I’m on. Atmosphere is juiced, get under any kind of return and it comes down quick. -

Been listening to it thunder south of here since like noon, storm around Cantsn may finally creep over the mountain but I’d be fine if it didn’t. Felt good for late June on the front porch this morning.
