lol, yes it's ridiculous the effort i put into the yard and it still looks like crap for the most part. my wife thinks i'm nuts for caring so much. A for effort though.

I slit seeded some kbg last Fall and it only grew maybe 0.5" then stopped. Looking at it now it looks the same. I know kyb takes some time to grow but shouldn't it be growing now? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

what's the best way to gauge fert application with a rotary spreader? I've used a small Scotts rotary for years, but I don't use Scotts fert, so the dial # is meaningless for other types of fert. I picked up some Lescos today and will spread tonight. One bag covers 11,000sqft. I know my yard's dimensions and can get a general sense of how far one bag will go, but have no idea on the rotary dial #. Halfway open, 1/4, 1/3???? In the past, I've just winged it and hoped I didn't run out or put too much down for the given area.

hoping the "showers" up here will cut it.

Soil temps up here may not be ideal for fert this weekend, but I don't want to miss the window and wait another week. With some mild temps coming next week, would next weekend be too late?

I'm going to try the Scotts 4-step stuff. My buddy swears by it. I fired Trugreen.

Good timing. After 5 years, I am finally going to start over on the front side lawn area. Last year we did the back, but the front needs fresh loam and seed. Here are my ideas/options: 1. Bring in 4" loam and hand seed with high quality KBG. On the slopes, use straw netting to prevent washoff. Spread straw elsewhere. The only issue is we get a lot of wind in the Spring and the straw may easily blow away 2. Bring in 4" loam then hydroseed. Still use straw netting on slopes. I'm a bit torn on which option to go with . #2 is more costly and the grass seed quality is not as good, but it's more likely to stay in place and retain moisture during germination. I also thought about ripping all existing sod out, but was told that wasn't necessary.
